The CSR Journal Magazine

Filmmaker Yogesh Deshpande, known for his work in advertising and regional cinema, is gearing up for his first feature film in Hindi. Currently in the pre-production phase, this project is set to begin filming in April.

The casting process is underway, and initial location scouting has already been completed. Three actresses have been shortlisted for key roles in the film.

A Journey Through Storytelling

Since embarking on his career in 2005, Deshpande has contributed to the creation of over 100 advertising films. He is also the founder of RedefineZ Concepts, which evolved into a comprehensive production house, RedefineZ Productions, located in Pune.

Reflecting on his professional journey, Deshpande expressed that his shift from advertising to filmmaking has been driven by the belief in the importance of emotionally honest and culturally resonant storytelling. He considers his entry into mainstream Hindi cinema as a natural progression, providing him with the opportunity to explore narratives that are both intimate and universal.

Features of the Upcoming Film

The upcoming Hindi feature film is set against the picturesque landscapes of Konkan and aims to delve into the human experiences related to the digital divide. The narrative is anchored by a strong female lead, promising an emotionally rich story that intertwines personal experiences with a broader visual narrative framed by the contemporary world. Deshpande aims to capture the complexities of modern life influenced by technology and human connections.

Previous Work and Transition to Feature Filmmaking

Prior to this project, Deshpande transitioned to feature filmmaking with “66 Sadashiv,” which marked his entry into long-form storytelling. He subsequently directed the musical biopic “Swargandharva Sudhir Phadke,” renowned for its use of original songs performed by iconic artists, including Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhosle.

This upcoming Hindi film aims to build upon these experiences, ultimately crafting a narrative that resonates with contemporary audiences while remaining rooted in real-life experiences.
