The University of Delhi has introduced its Financial Support Scheme (FSS) for the academic session of 2026-27, enabling eligible students to receive fee waivers of up to 100%. This initiative is designed to alleviate the financial strains on students hailing from families with restricted incomes. Announced through the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare, the scheme reflects the university’s commitment to supporting students in their academic pursuits.

Eligibility Criteria For Fee Waiver

To qualify for the Financial Support Scheme, applicants must be full-time undergraduate or postgraduate students enrolled in a department, institute, or centre at Delhi University. However, it is important to note that students in constituent colleges, BTech programmes (except for the CIC), the five-year integrated law programmes, the School of Open Learning, and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Educational Board (NCWEB) are not included in this scheme. Furthermore, students who have an Essential Repeat (ER) in any previous examination are disqualified from applying.

The fee waivers are categorised based on annual family income. Families earning between Rs 0 to Rs 4,00,000 qualify for a waiver of 100%, offering a maximum of Rs 15,000, while those with an income ranging from Rs 4,00,001 to Rs 8,00,000 are eligible for a 50% waiver, amounting to a maximum of Rs 10,000. This tiered system is designed to prioritise financial support for those with the greatest need.

The last date for submitting the online application for the fee waiver is October 13, 2026. Students are encouraged to complete their applications well in advance of this deadline to ensure a smooth submission process.

Application Process And Required Documents

Eligible students can apply for the fee waiver through a straightforward process. They must visit the official websites of Delhi University or the Dean of Students’ Welfare. Once on the relevant page, students need to locate the notification for the Financial Support Scheme 2026-27 and access the online application form through the provided link.

Following this, applicants should fill in the required personal and financial details accurately and upload the necessary documents. It is essential that applications are submitted by the stated deadline of October 13. Failure to do so may result in ineligibility for the fee waiver.

Applicants must prepare several documents to support their applications. These include an income certificate, an Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate or OBC-NCL certificate, family members’ income tax returns and PAN cards, an undertaking form, a bonafide certificate, the latest fee receipt, the marksheet for the last examination, and a bank passbook or a cancelled cheque in the student’s name. It is important to highlight that income certificates must not be issued by a notary or in the name of the student, as those will not be accepted.

A schedule for submitting printed application forms and supporting documents at the office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare will be shared separately, providing applicants with detailed instructions on the next steps.
