Xiaomi has officially unveiled its flagship smartphones, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, in China. These models largely maintain the design of their predecessors, incorporating a secondary display on the rear. However, they come equipped with significant enhancements in terms of specifications and functionalities. The devices feature cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series chipsets and are launched alongside the Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro and Pad 9 tablets, expanding the company’s product portfolio.

Specifications and Features of Xiaomi 18 Pro and Pro Max

The Xiaomi 18 Pro features a 6.4-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display, boasting a 120Hz refresh rate, 300Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. In contrast, the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max sports a larger 6.9-inch Full-HD+ AMOLED display, offering similar specifications. Both devices support the DCI-P3 colour gamut and include a new Privacy Display feature that minimises visibility from side angles.

The rear of both smartphones features a secondary AMOLED display, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro featuring a 2.7-inch panel and the Pro Max having a slightly larger 2.9-inch screen. Both of these secondary displays also support a refresh rate of 120Hz and peak brightness of 4,000 nits, enhancing user interaction and notifications.

Performance-wise, the Xiaomi 18 Pro is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset, while the Pro Max upgrades to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. Both chipsets are fabricated on a 2nm process and are capable of reaching a peak clock speed of 5GHz. The devices offer configurations of up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.

In terms of photography, both smartphones are equipped with a triple rear camera system, which includes a 200-megapixel main camera with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto camera, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 102-degree field of view. They can record videos in 8K resolution at 30 frames per second and have a 50-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. Battery capacities are substantial, with the Xiaomi 18 Pro housing a 7,000mAh battery and the Pro Max featuring an even more impressive 8,500mAh battery. Both models support rapid charging options, including 100W wired and 50W wireless charging, as well as a 27W wired reverse charging function.

Xiaomi Pad 9 Pro and Pad 9 Features

Alongside the new smartphones, Xiaomi also launched the Pad 9 Pro and Pad 9 tablets. The Pad 9 Pro is equipped with a 12.5-inch LCD display with a 3.2K resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, driven by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. This tablet offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. For photography, it has a 50-megapixel rear camera in addition to a 32-megapixel front camera, and its battery capacity is 11,000mAh with support for 67W wired fast charging.

The Xiaomi Pad 9 features an 11.2-inch display with identical 3.2K resolution and refresh rate. Powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset, it is available in configurations offering up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Pad 9’s camera specifications include a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera, complemented by a 9,720mAh battery with 45W fast charging capabilities. Both tablets are compatible with reverse wired charging and feature quad speakers with Dolby Atmos support.

Colour options for the Pad 9 Pro include Black, Silver, and Spruce Green, while the Pad 9 is offered in Black, Ice Peach Pink, Silver, and Spruce Green. This diverse range of features aims to cater to various consumer needs and preferences, solidifying Xiaomi’s presence in the high-end technology market.

Pricing Details for the New Devices

The Xiaomi 18 Pro is priced starting at CNY 5,999 (approximately Rs 86,000) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. The prices escalate with additional storage configurations, reaching CNY 9,999 (around Rs 1,43,000) for the transparent 16GB 1TB model. For the Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, the entry price is CNY 6,999 (around Rs 1,00,000), and it follows a similar pricing structure to its Pro counterpart.

The Pad 9 Pro begins at CNY 3,799 (approximately Rs 54,279) and rises to CNY 4,999 (around Rs 71,442) for its most premium configuration. Meanwhile, the Pad 9 starts from CNY 2,999 (around Rs 42,851), with various options available to suit different budgets.

With these new releases, Xiaomi continues to expand its product offerings, positioning itself as a competitive player in the high-performance smartphone and tablet market.
