DMK Youth Wing Slams Congress Over Alleged Political Betrayal, Passes Strong Resolution

The CSR Journal Magazine

The youth wing of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has sharply criticised the Indian National Congress, accusing it of engaging in “parasitic politics” after ending its long-standing alliance with the DMK following the 2026 Assembly elections.

The strongly worded resolution was passed on Saturday and reflected growing tensions between the two parties after Congress decided to part ways despite years of electoral cooperation and organisational support from the DMK.

DMK Alleges Betrayal After Years of Support

According to the resolution, Congress leaders were able to secure electoral victories and positions of power largely because of the DMK’s cadre strength and campaign machinery. The youth wing claimed that Congress had repeatedly relied on DMK workers during elections while struggling to mobilise its own grassroots support effectively.

“Previous elections saw Congress participate in the DMK-led alliance, resulting in numerous successful candidates,” the resolution stated. “While Congress struggled to energise its own cadre, it was the tireless efforts of DMK workers that ensured Congress victories.”

The statement further accused Congress of abandoning the alliance immediately after benefitting politically from it.

Tensions Rise After Election Outcome

The fallout reportedly intensified after the 2026 Assembly election results, when Congress ended its association with the DMK and two Congress MLAs were inducted into the new government led by Chief Minister Vijay.

The DMK youth wing described the move as politically unethical and accused Congress of showing “no gratitude” toward the alliance that had supported its growth in the state.

“After benefiting from this support, Congress shifted its allegiance overnight, without even a note of thanks,” the resolution alleged. “In their pursuit of power, they abandoned political decorum.”

Questions Over Opposition Unity

The political split has also raised concerns regarding the future of opposition unity and the weakening of the INDIA bloc in Tamil Nadu. Political observers believe the breakdown of the alliance could reshape coalition equations ahead of future elections.

The development marks a major shift in Tamil Nadu politics, with both parties now appearing headed toward a more confrontational political relationship.
