Delhi Property Dealer Killed in Dwarka; Police Investigate Possible Gang Ties

The CSR Journal Magazine

A property dealer, aged 42, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in the Chhawla locality of Dwarka, New Delhi, on Friday. According to police officials, the victim was alone in his vehicle when the assailants attacked, resulting in his immediate death. Sources indicated that the police are exploring the possibility of links to gangster Kapil Sangwan, who had allegedly threatened the deceased earlier. The Delhi Police confirmed the occurrence and stated that the investigation is ongoing.

Previous Threats and Gang Connections

Authorities revealed that the attack on the property dealer may have been motivated by previous threats made against him by a gangster residing abroad. The police are scrutinizing the circumstances surrounding the case, particularly the role of organized crime in the incident. This incident has raised concerns about the influence of gang-related activities in the region.

Related Arrests and Criminal Links

In a separate but related development, an active member of the Kapil Sangwan gang was apprehended by the Delhi Police on January 19 in connection with an Arms Act violation. The individual, identified as Manoj Rathee, had a history of criminal involvement, including a 2021 murder case filed at the Najafgarh Police Station. Following his escape from the country in February 2024, a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) was issued against him alongside a Look Out Circular (LOC).

Details of the Arrest at IGI Airport

Rathee was subsequently intercepted and detained at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport on January 9, 2026. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell made the arrest under Section 25(8) of the Arms Act, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb illegal arms and gang activities in the capital. The actions taken by law enforcement are part of a broader initiative to address violent crime and gang-related threats in the area.

Community Concerns

The incident has sparked concerns among local residents regarding safety and the potential for further violence linked to organized crime. Community members have expressed the need for enhanced safety measures and stronger law enforcement presence to deter criminal activities. The ongoing police investigation aims to provide clarity and ensure the safety of the neighborhood.
