Maruti Suzuki Exports 50,000 Electric Vehicles in 15 Months

The CSR Journal Magazine

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has successfully crossed the milestone of 50,000 units in cumulative exports of its electric vehicles, achieving this feat in less than 15 months since the commencement of global shipments in August 2025. This accomplishment underscores the company’s rapid growth in the electric vehicle sector and its commitment to expanding its footprint in international markets.

Dominance in Electric Vehicle Exports

According to the automaker, it accounted for nearly 93 per cent of India’s electric passenger vehicle exports between April and September 2026. The company’s inaugural global electric vehicle, the e Vitara, is produced at its Hansalpur facility in Gujarat and is exported to approximately 50 countries. Europe was the initial region to receive the e Vitara, which continues to be the largest market for the vehicle.

Other notable export destinations include the United Kingdom, Norway, Germany, Japan, and Switzerland. Maruti Suzuki has established itself as India’s largest electric vehicle exporter for the financial year 2025-26 and has maintained this position during the first half of the financial year 2026-27. The e Vitara was first exported following the start of production at the Hansalpur facility in August 2025, with plans for the model to be available in over 100 countries.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, stated that this achievement reflects India’s advanced manufacturing capabilities and its increasing competitiveness in the global automotive market. The company’s export performance is indicative of its broader presence in international markets, where it has been the largest passenger vehicle exporter in India for five consecutive years.

Strategic Manufacturing Hub in Hansalpur

The Hansalpur facility plays a crucial role in Maruti Suzuki’s export strategy, serving as the exclusive manufacturing site for Suzuki’s first global battery electric vehicle. Recently, the plant has expanded its annual production capacity to one million vehicles, marking it as the first Suzuki manufacturing facility worldwide to reach this capacity at a single location.

Maruti Suzuki has reported a cumulative investment of Rs 25,288.7 crore in the Hansalpur facility, which accounted for nearly half of the company’s total overseas shipments in the financial year 2025-26. This highlights the facility’s significance as both a manufacturing and export hub for the company.

The company’s focus on electric vehicles aligns with the growing global demand for sustainable transportation solutions. As Maruti Suzuki continues to innovate and expand its electric vehicle offerings, it is likely to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the automotive industry in India and beyond.
