Delhi Police Issues Traffic Advisory Ahead of Rally at Ramlila Maidan

The CSR Journal Magazine

A traffic advisory has been released by the Delhi Traffic Police in anticipation of a significant rally set to occur at Ramlila Maidan on March 24, 2026. This event is planned to run from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, attracting a large number of participants. The assembly of crowds in and around the venue may lead to traffic disruptions in various areas of central Delhi. Commuters are advised to exercise caution, plan their trips in advance, and account for additional travel time due to potential delays.

Roads Likely to Experience High Traffic

Several key roadways near the rally site are expected to face significant congestion and diversions throughout the duration of the event. Roads that may be particularly affected include JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Chaman Lal Marg, Ajmeri Gate, Minto Road, Delhi Gate, and RA Kamla Market. Drivers using these routes may encounter delays and are recommended to explore alternative paths where feasible.

Traffic Restrictions and Diversions

Traffic management measures will be executed based on real-time conditions. According to officials, several restrictions may be put in place, including regulation on JLN Marg and restrictions on vehicles traveling from Ajmeri Gate towards Ramlila Maidan via Asaf Ali Road. Transit on JLN Marg may still be permitted in specific segments.

Additionally, heavy vehicles and buses approaching from the north and west parts of Delhi will be redirected from Rani Jhansi Chowk to Rani Jhansi Road and Panchkuian Road. Travelers aiming to reach New Delhi Railway Station from Ajmeri Gate are advised to take an alternate route that includes Rani Jhansi Road, Panchkuian Road, Connaught Circus, and Minto Road.

Parking Regulations and Public Transport Advisory

To facilitate smoother traffic flow, the authorities have established distinct parking regulations. Visitors to the rally can utilize the parking facilities at Mata Sundari College. Buses are permitted to drop off passengers at Delhi Gate but must park in designated spots like Rajghat or Power House.

No buses will be allowed to proceed beyond Delhi Gate toward JLN Marg. Moreover, parking restrictions will be enforced on main thoroughfares, including JLN Marg, Asaf Ali Road, Minto Road, DDU Marg, and Chaman Lal Marg. Vehicles parked in violation of these rules will be subject to towing and fines. The public is strongly encouraged to opt for public transportation to alleviate traffic congestion and minimize delays during the event.

Guidelines for Commuters

With congestion anticipated to begin as early as 6:00 AM, commuters should take necessary precautions. Starting journeys early and allowing for extra travel time is advisable. Averting affected roads, adhering to directions from traffic police on duty, and staying informed through official traffic updates are also recommended. The Delhi Traffic Police seeks public cooperation to ensure an orderly traffic flow and maintain safety throughout the duration of the rally.
