An undertrial inmate was reportedly stabbed to death by two other prisoners at Central Jail No. 10 in Rohini, Delhi, on Monday. The victim, identified as Pradeep alias Mohinder, was 31 years old and was in judicial custody related to a murder case. As he made his way back to barrack number 203, he allegedly sustained a stab wound to the neck inflicted by fellow inmates using a sharp-edged weapon. Family’s Allegations of Negligence

Pradeep’s sister, Nisha, has accused the jail staff of failing to provide adequate assistance immediately after the stabbing. According to Nisha, her cousin had visited Pradeep shortly before the incident, and she claims that the prison authorities delayed taking him to the hospital for an hour following the attack. “They did not inform us about what had happened,” she stated, highlighting her frustrations with the lack of communication from the prison staff.

She also mentioned that several individuals were present during the violent altercation, which raises questions about security protocols within the facility. Nisha expressed disbelief regarding how a sharp-edged weapon could find its way into a secured area, suggesting a significant lapse in safety measures. This incident has sparked a broader discussion concerning the management of prison security and inmate safety.

Moreover, Nisha underscored that her brother had been incarcerated for approximately one-and-a-half years and was scheduled to be released on bail shortly, specifically on October 3. She insinuated that his upcoming release could have been a motive for his alleged murder, stating, “This is why they killed him.” Nisha’s claims of negligence and potential motives have prompted calls for further investigation into the incident.
