A Gurugram resident has been arrested following an incident where he allegedly crashed his SUV into a cab carrying his friends. The event occurred late at night in Sector 89, as confirmed by Gurugram Police. According to reports, the accused was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.

The cab driver and two passengers narrowly escaped serious injury, with the impact causing both front airbags of the cab to deploy and significant damage to its front. The police investigation began when a cab driver approached officials at the Kherki Daula police station on September 18. He reported that while driving near Sati Chowk, another vehicle struck his cab in a reckless manner.

Following this complaint, authorities registered a case to initiate further inquiries. Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Manjeet Rawat, a resident of Bharthal village in Delhi. He was apprehended in Gurugram on September 19, as police commenced an investigation based on the cab driver’s account.

Circumstances Leading to the Incident

Authorities revealed that Rawat was travelling to Sohna with friends from his village when they had allegedly consumed alcohol during the journey. Reports indicate that an argument broke out regarding who would drive the vehicle, escalating into a physical altercation among the group.

Following the dispute, when his friends opted for a cab, Rawat allegedly decided to ram his SUV into their vehicle intentionally. “The police team has recovered the Thar vehicle involved in the incident,” a senior police officer stated. “Legal proceedings are underway as per the law, and the investigation continues.”

Video footage of the incident later circulated on social media, highlighting the severity of the collision.
