Boldpurity, a clinical skincare brand established by cosmetic scientist Khatija Shabana, has garnered significant recognition by being named one of the five global finalists in the Best Use of Technology (Brands) category at the 2026 BeautyMatter Awards. This marks the first instance of an Indian skincare brand reaching the finalist list in this competitive category, joining four prominent international technology-led brands.
The accolade comes shortly after Boldpurity established its own research and manufacturing facility in Hyderabad. The brand has deliberately focused on creating its formulations from the molecular level, eschewing ready-made bases typically sourced from contract manufacturers.
Khatija Shabana, M.Pharm, and certified cosmetic scientist, highlighted the uniqueness of their approach. She stated that while most skincare brands purchase pre-existing formulas, her team opted to build a laboratory and spent 18 months addressing delivery challenges that the industry had long considered insurmountable.
Innovative Delivery Systems Drive Recognition
Boldpurity’s submission at the awards showcased two proprietary delivery systems, both completely conceived and tested in-house and currently undergoing patent filings in India. The first, SkinReset™ PDRN Serum, employs salmon-derived PDRN, which is traditionally utilised at kilodalton molecular scales, restricting formulation and delivery options.
Boldpurity has innovatively reduced PDRN to nanoparticle dimensions, creating a dual-encapsulation system designed for both immediate and delayed release. The initial layer releases the active ingredient upon application, while the second layer provides a gradual release over eight hours. This dual-phase capability positions the serum as a superior option compared to standard single-release formulations, a development process that took over a year to perfect.
The second technology presented, the CellMorph™ 500 Spicule Serum, utilises precision-engineered spicules, reduced to 0.9 microns—an approximate 444-fold decrease in size—while maintaining structural integrity. Each spicule features a proprietary coating enriched with apple stem cell bioactives. This combination enhances both texture support and skin conditioning, exemplifying the transition from pharmaceutical-level precision to cosmetic application.
Significance of Recognition for Indian Skincare
The recognition of Boldpurity highlights a significant milestone for the Indian skincare market, which is experiencing rapid growth. However, many domestic brands still rely on imported or licensed formulation technology. The brand’s finalist status indicates the potential to develop original, patent-pending delivery science in India, positioning it favourably among globally recognised brands.
Syed Fouzan, Co-founder of Boldpurity, added that the award criteria focus on formulation innovation and delivery engineering, ensuring that the same rigorous standards apply to all entrants. This level playing field was precisely the benchmark that the brand sought to meet.
The BeautyMatter Awards aim to celebrate excellence in the global beauty industry, with finalists chosen based on merit by an independent panel. The Best Use of Technology (Brands) category specifically honours brands that demonstrate notable advancements through proprietary formulation and manufacturing technologies.
The winners of the 2026 BeautyMatter Awards will be announced on December 7, 2026, in New York City, with the complete list of finalists available for public viewing at awards.beautymatter.com/finalists-2026.
