A 64-year-old man was discovered deceased after a fire erupted in his residence in west Delhi. Preliminary police reports suggest that the circumstances may indicate suicide. The individual, identified as Vijay, had shared a message on WhatsApp that included a suicide note shortly before the tragedy occurred.

In addition to the note, he also uploaded a video to YouTube, which he titled his last video. Vijay had reportedly been residing alone as a tenant in the Old Shahpura neighbourhood for approximately five years. Following the incident, authorities have preserved his body at Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where a post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place.

The police are currently investigating the details surrounding his death. Authorities were alerted to the fire at around 3.26 am on Saturday. In response, four fire tenders were dispatched to the scene, where they successfully brought the blaze under control. Once the fire was extinguished, a severely burnt body was located within the premises.

Investigation and Findings

The police have confirmed that the deceased was identified by Prakash Chauhan, a resident of Subhash Nagar. During the preliminary stages of the investigation, officials uncovered the WhatsApp message containing the suicide note. The content of the video uploaded to YouTube suggested a premeditated decision on Vijay’s part, which he explained in the video, addressing his daughter and expressing love and regret.

In the video, Vijay articulated that he was taking his own life. He also insisted that no one should be held accountable for his actions. He mentioned that he intended to set himself on fire so that his family would not endure the emotional burden associated with arranging his cremation.

Moreover, he expressed the desire for his daughter to immerse his ashes in the Yamuna River. Furthermore, police reports show that Vijay was divorced and engaged in the creation and uploading of vlogs on his YouTube channel. This aspect of his life may provide further insights as investigators delve into the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
