The recent case in Delhi has sparked outrage, revealing a series of disturbing actions by the accused, a cab driver named Bablu. According to police reports, Bablu allegedly kidnapped the young girl from the pavement where she was asleep next to her family. The incident occurred in the Mehrauli area in the early hours of Monday. Reports indicate that he drove approximately 20 kilometres away from the scene before committing the alleged crimes.

Bablu is said to have parked his cab close to the area while awaiting a ride booking. Witnesses reported that the girl woke up as Bablu forcibly took her, prompting her father to chase after them in desperation. Despite his efforts to alert the authorities immediately, the search began only after the alarm was raised.

Surveillance footage played a crucial role in the investigation, providing vital evidence about the abduction. Although the cab’s registration number was not visible, investigators noted the vehicle’s presence for nearly an hour before the incident. By coordinating with app-based cab services like Ola and Uber, police successfully identified the driver and vehicle involved in the crime.

Discovery of the Victim and Accused’s Arrest

Police sources reported that over 20 teams were deployed to track down the accused, who was eventually arrested in Vikaspuri using GPS and mobile location data. Initially, Bablu denied any involvement. However, during interrogation, police allege that he confessed to the crime, providing a detailed account of the actions that transpired.

It has been alleged that after abducting the child, Bablu drove her to a remote area along the Gurugram-Faridabad road. There, he is reported to have restrained her before committing sexual assault and strangling her with a cloth. The victim’s body was later discovered by authorities in the same area.

In a disturbing turn of events, following the alleged murder, Bablu returned to his regular activities, reportedly picking up another passenger before he was apprehended by police. This behaviour has raised significant questions about the character and practices surrounding cab drivers operating in the region.

Escalation of Tensions and Family Response

The case has escalated tensions within the local community, prompting demands for justice and harsher penalties for such crimes. In a tragic statement following the encounter, the victim’s father expressed his belief that the actions taken by the police do not equate to justice for his daughter, calling for the harshest punishment available.

The father recalled the moments immediately after the abduction, where he received reassurances from a police officer about the ongoing efforts to locate his child. Amidst heavy security, the young girl’s last rites were conducted, with many family members and relatives present, calling for strict action against the accused.

Authorities are also under pressure to investigate how Bablu, who allegedly has a criminal history involving multiple cases of violent offences in Bihar, was permitted to operate within app-based cab services. The family and community await answers as the investigation continues, highlighting broader issues related to public safety and accountability within private transport platforms.
