CSR News: ‘Kreedashala’ Brings the Power of Sports to 186 Children as Part of Microland’s Culture of Giving Week

The CSR Journal Magazine

Bengaluru, India: Microland has kicked off its annual Culture of Giving Week, a celebration of people, purpose, and passion, deeply rooted in care, contribution, and collective impact. The week started with the distribution of sports kits to 186 children from vulnerable backgrounds, marking the symbolic beginning of a transformative journey.

Microland Foundation, the social impact arm of Microland, collaborated with Reaching Hand and the Bangalore Youth Football League (BYFL) to bring the Kreedashala initiative to life at Lighthouse International Academy (LIA), a school dedicated to children from foster care environments.

Kreedashala is more than just a sports program; it is a platform that empowers children with essential life skills through sports. Launched in 2022 as part of Microland Foundation’s commitment to holistic development, the program offers children a transformative opportunity to rise above their challenging pasts and develop fulfilling, purpose-driven lives. By combining trauma-informed learning, professional coaching, and inclusive participation, Kreedashala nurtures confidence, emotional resilience, discipline, teamwork, and social skills—shaping champions both on and off the field.

What began with 60 children has grown to 186, reflecting the initiative’s rapid impact. From inter-school victories to training exposures at elite centers like the Dravid–Padukone Center of Excellence, Kreedashala has opened the doors to new possibilities. The result is not only improved athletic ability but also stronger academic performance, healthier emotional expression, and a renewed sense of hope.

The sports kit distributed during the event holds a more profound meaning; each kit symbolizes the life lessons wrapped in the form of sports. It also represents the equal contribution of Microlanders who wholeheartedly believe in the Culture of Giving, demonstrating how collective effort can pave the way for brighter futures.

Speaking about the initiative, Kalpana Kar, Managing Trustee, Microland Foundation, said, “Kreedashala’s journey fills us with pride because it reflects the very soul of Microland—our Culture of Giving. This is who we are. Seeing the children’s excitement today is a powerful reminder of why this initiative matters. Sports don’t just build skills; they build confidence, discipline, and hope—especially for children who have faced difficult beginnings. Every smile, every spark of joy amplifies our purpose and strengthens our resolve to keep giving. We are honored to walk this path with Reaching Hand and BYFL, helping these young athletes dream bigger and believe in brighter tomorrows.”

Throughout the week, employees will participate in immersive themes such as on-field play, zero-waste learning, cultural showcases, and volunteering, creating meaningful opportunities for Microlanders to connect with causes that matter.
