CSR News: CBI Colony Association and Illness to Wellness Foundation host two-day preventive health screening camp

The CSR Journal Magazine

New Delhi, India: The modern world is moving at a fast pace, and one of its consequences is the rise of lifestyle diseases such as hypertension, high blood pressure, and diabetes, which have become increasingly common. This has been driven by factors like long working hours, chronic stress, poor eating habits, and a lack of physical activity.

A widespread yet dangerous belief that these conditions affect only those over 45 or 50 further worsens the problem. As a result, many individuals remain unaware of their illness until it leads to serious complications. Addressing this growing concern, the national ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign, alongside YoloHealth, a healthcare technology company, has been organizing health camps across the country. These efforts aim to raise awareness about the critical need for early detection and proactive management of health risks.

In response to the growing threat posed by these silent lifestyle diseases, the CBI Colony Association organised a health screening camp at the CBI Colony, Vasant Vihar, on August 2nd and 3rd in association with Illness to Wellness and YoloHealth. The initiative saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 200 individuals, who underwent an extensive range of diagnostic tests spanning 32 blood screening parameters, including blood pressure, lipid profiles, blood sugar levels, and a variety of both invasive and noninvasive evaluations.

The camp not only provided access to affordable and timely health assessments but also aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early detection in managing health risks effectively. One of the most significant insights emerged from the HbA1c test results, which measure long-term blood sugar levels. Alarmingly, over 10% of participants showed readings of 200 or above, pointing to potentially undiagnosed diabetes. For many, these findings came as a surprise, underlining how silently such conditions can develop. However, this early diagnosis has now empowered attendees to pursue proper medical intervention and adopt healthier lifestyle choices.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Anil Rajput, Chairperson, Advisory Council, Illness to Wellness Foundation, said, “I am truly delighted to witness the enthusiastic participation at these camps, and I am confident that Illness to Wellness and YoloHealth will continue to host many more such initiatives in the coming days to engage an even broader population. By organizing camps like the recent one with the CBI Colony Association, these efforts have brought to light the widespread yet often unnoticed presence of conditions such as diabetes and hypertension among citizens. At a time when lifestyle diseases are rising, even among the youth, these initiatives are vital. The strong response at such camps reaffirms our belief in this mission, which aligns with our Honourable Prime Minister’s vision of a ‘Swasth Bharat.’ By identifying these silent illnesses, we are helping individuals take charge of their health and contributing to a stronger, healthier society.”

Members of the CBI Colony Association and partner foundations highlighted how crucial preventive healthcare and routine screenings are, particularly for urban residents who face rising risks from sedentary lifestyles, poor dietary habits, and elevated stress.

This camp forms part of an ongoing, city-wide initiative led by the ‘Illness to Wellness’ Foundation and YoloHealth, which has been active for over a year. By collaborating with numerous like-minded organizations, this sustained series of health camps remains committed to promoting awareness about the essential role of preventive healthcare in safeguarding community well-being.

In the camp, yolohealth used its trademark product, HealthATM, to show how technology has evolved in delivering accurate health assessment reports. These HealthATM machines are designed to offer primary and preventive healthcare services with the goal of ensuring easy public access. It is an aggregation of US FDA/EU certified IoT-enabled medical devices combined with YoloHealth’s proprietary HIPPA compliant software backend and cloud-centric platform supporting telemedicine facilities. This pioneering endeavor enabled individuals to take stock of their health and make well-informed health decisions.

The Illness to Wellness and YoloHealth initiative was launched in March 2024, and since then, the campaign has swiftly gained traction. Preceding this event, health camps were held at prominent locations like Janpath, Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Birla Mandir, Aggarwal Digambar Jain Mandir in Connaught Place, Priority Health Care in Green Park, Shri Sai Bhakta Samaj, Guru Harkrishan Public School in Vasant Vihar, Shri Jagannath Mandir in Thyagraj Nagar, Community Centre in Malviya Nagar, CONCOR Annex in Okhla, Civil Services Officers’ Institute in Chanakyapuri, NCUI Auditorium in Hauz Khas, Purani Chaupal, Shahpur Jat and Shiv Mandir Yog Sadhna Kendra in Maidan Garhi.

The ‘Illness to Wellness’ campaign was introduced in 2014 and remains committed to promoting health and well-being through empowering, educating, collaborating, and adopting sustainable health practices. Over the years, it has aimed to maximize outreach and impact, from organizing camps and awareness campaigns to holding regular webinars on key health topics and developments- with the clear purpose of raising awareness and providing motivation and remedies.
