A preliminary autopsy report into the death of a minor girl in Baruipur has revealed horrifying details, suggesting she was brutally assaulted, sexually abused, and thrown into a pond while still alive. The victim went missing on Saturday, and her body was recovered from a local pond inside a sack on Sunday. The autopsy, conducted late Sunday night, has sent shockwaves through the community as police intensify their investigation.
Key Findings from the Preliminary Autopsy
According to sources close to the investigation, the medical report indicates extensive physical trauma inflicted on the minor before her death:
Signs of Sexual Assault: The report notes multiple injuries to the victim’s private parts, strongly pointing toward sexual assault.
Severe Physical Trauma: The victim sustained a deep wound to her head caused by a heavy object, alongside multiple injuries on her neck and throat.
Drowning While Alive: Crucially, medical experts found water inside the victim’s lungs. Forensic experts notes that water cannot enter the lungs if a corpse is dumped into water. This indicates that after being brutally assaulted, the minor was thrown into the pond while she was still breathing.
Direct Identification and Arrests
The breakthrough in the case came after police retrieved CCTV footage showing a man in a blue cap walking down the street with the minor. Following his arrest, questioning led law enforcement to other suspects.
So far, three individuals have been arrested between Sunday and Monday. The police are actively interrogating them to piece together the exact sequence of events.
Political Fallout
The incident has triggered immense political tension in West Bengal: “Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has assured the victim’s family that all their demands will be met and swift action will be taken.”
Meanwhile, leaders from opposition parties have already visited the victim’s residence. The political atmosphere remains highly volatile, with opposition leaders demanding strict accountability and questioning the state’s law and order situation regarding the safety of women and children.
