A brutal case of kidnapping and gang rape has shocked Assam’s Tinsukia district after a schoolgirl was allegedly abducted and assaulted by three men while returning home from school. The incident took place on Monday afternoon around 3 pm, when the girl was reportedly taken on a motorcycle to a nearby tea garden and later found unconscious by villagers.
Kidnapped in Daylight, Found Unconscious in Tea Garden
According to reports, the minor was walking home from school when three men intercepted her and forcibly took her away. Hours later, villagers discovered her lying unconscious in a tea garden with severe injuries. The girl’s relatives immediately took her to the Bordubi police station, from where she was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
A relative said, “She was in a terrible condition when we found her. We want justice, the culprits must be arrested and punished.”
Villagers Protest, Accuse Police of Delayed Action
Soon after the incident, angry villagers and relatives of the victim gathered outside the Bordubi police station, demanding immediate arrests. The protest continued late into the evening, with residents accusing the police of inaction and negligence. The incident has sparked widespread outrage across the region, reigniting calls for stricter safety measures for school-going girls.
FIR Registered, No Arrests So Far
Assam Police have confirmed that an FIR has been lodged at the Bordubi police station under relevant sections of the IPC and POCSO Act. A senior officer said the investigation is ongoing, and teams have been deployed to trace the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far.
Police officials added that the victim is undergoing medical treatment and her condition is stable. “We are taking this case very seriously. The culprits will be brought to justice soon,” the official said.
