Asaduddin Owaisi Criticizes ‘Dhurandhar 2’, Calls it “Three Hours of Nonsense”

The CSR Journal Magazine

Lok Sabha MP Asaduddin Owaisi has publicly denounced the film “Dhurandhar 2,” labeling it as “bakwaas” and expressing concern over its violent themes. During a recent summit organized by Times Now, Owaisi questioned the quality of the movie, asking rhetorically, “Picture hai vo?” while dismissing it as “three hours of nonsense.” His comments come at a time when the film, directed by Aditya Dhar and featuring Ranveer Singh, is experiencing notable commercial success at the box office.

Criticism of Content

In his address, Owaisi expressed a lack of interest in viewing the lengthy film, contending that it primarily consisted of “cuss words” and violence. He further scrutinized the film’s messaging, implying that it raises unsettling questions regarding its depiction of Muslims. When informed that audiences around the world were responding positively to the film, Owaisi retorted in a colloquial Hyderabadi manner, suggesting that he preferred to ignore such sentiments rather than engage with them.

Dhurandhar 2 Overview

The narrative of Dhurandhar 2 centers around the character Jaskirat Singh Rangi, also known as Hamza Ali Mazari, who operates as an Indian spy infiltrating Karachi’s criminal and political landscape. The storyline draws inspiration from actual events, including the IC-814 hijacking, the Indian Parliament attack, and the Mumbai attacks. This sequel further explores the protagonist’s ascent within the power dynamics of Lyari while attempting to dismantle a terror network.

Box Office Performance

Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar 2 was released on March 19 and has achieved significant financial success, reportedly grossing over Rs 715 crore in India and approximately Rs 1,128 crore worldwide. The film has quickly become one of the highest-grossing films of 2026 to date. The original installment, released in December of the previous year, collected Rs 840 crore domestically and over Rs 1,300 crore globally, raising expectations for its sequel.
