The CSR Journal Magazine

Akshay Kumar has formally announced the conclusion of the Keralam schedule for his forthcoming film directed by Anees Bazmee. This update was shared on May 5, 2026, signifying the end of an extensive shooting period that took place in picturesque locations such as Munnar and Marayoor, highlighting the natural beauty of Kerala.

The filming involved various scenic outdoor sequences that incorporated the vibrant landscapes for which the region is well-known. Akshay’s involvement in the project aligns with his ongoing commitment to work in diverse locales, bringing authenticity to his filmography.

Highlights of the Shoot in Kerala

On social media, Akshay Kumar posted a photograph that showcased his collaboration with co-stars Vidya Balan and Raashii Khanna. The image captures a moment set against the backdrop of traditional cultural expressions from Kerala, featuring performers engaged in Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, and Theyyam, all of which are integral to the region’s rich artistic heritage.

In the posted image, Akshay dressed in a dark grey ensemble complemented by sunglasses, sits alongside Vidya Balan in a white oversized shirt and denim jeans, while Raashii Khanna wears a sleek black dress. The presence of classical performers enriches the visual narrative, embodying the essence of a state often referred to as “God’s Own Country.”

Expressing his gratitude for the experience, Akshay noted, “Keralam schedule wrapped! Nothing beats working with good people in a beautiful place. Big love to our director Anees Bazmee for the madness behind the camera and to my incredible co-stars Vidya, Raashii, Chota Rajpal and the entire crew! This one’s been special.”

Collaboration and Project Details

The Kerala filming commenced on April 23, as Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan were spotted boarding a private flight destined for the shooting location. This leg of the project focused on enhancing the cinematic experience through outdoor sequences inspired by the local geography, further enriching the film’s visual appeal.

This upcoming feature marks the fourth collaboration between Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan, underscoring the rapport they have built over previous projects. It also establishes the reunion of Akshay with director Anees Bazmee after a hiatus of 15 years, signifying a notable moment in their professional relationship.

Reportedly, the film is a comedy inspired by the Telugu feature “Sankranthiki Vasthunam.” However, there has not been any formal confirmation regarding this adaptation as of yet. As the schedule in Kerala wraps up, excitement grows around the film’s release, following Akshay’s recent cinematic offering, “Bhooth Bangla,” directed by Priyadarshan.
