Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has once again captured attention during this year’s Cannes Film Festival with her second appearance. The renowned actress wore a blush pink couture gown designed by Sophie Couture, making a statement at the event intended to highlight Women’s Worth, an annual initiative by L’Oreal Paris that supports emerging female filmmakers. She was accompanied by her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, who donned a ruby-red gown complete with a matching cape.
Details of the Couture Gown
The blush pink gown featured a strapless corseted bodice adorned with Fortuny pleating and intricate Swarovski-crystal floral embellishments in shades of rose gold, copper, and deep mauve. These floral details cascaded elegantly from the bodice toward the hips, enhancing the gown’s fluid silhouette. The satin-silk crepe ensemble was artfully structured with asymmetric ruching around the waist and hips, creating a sculpted effect before it flowed into a sweeping, floor-length skirt.
A sheer chiffon cape, complemented by an extended train, added a sense of movement and drama to the look. This change from her previous voluminous gowns reflects a notable evolution in Rai’s red-carpet style, as she opted for a more body-hugging silhouette, giving her appearance a sharper edge this year.
The decision to forgo a necklace allowed the gown to remain the focal point, particularly with the dramatic cape enhancing the overall ensemble. Instead, Aishwarya chose to accessorise with statement rings on both hands and delicate drop earrings that peeked through her styled hair.
Makeup and Hairstyling
In her first appearance at the festival this year, she unveiled a custom Amit Aggarwal creation, which was a deep sapphire-blue gown that hugged her figure before transitioning into a structured mermaid silhouette. The ensemble reportedly required over 1,500 hours of handwork, indicating the high level of craftsmanship involved.
Amit Aggarwal commented on the collaboration by stating that Aishwarya approaches Cannes with a strong sense of individuality. He expressed a desire to create an outfit that felt less like a garment and more like an energetic presence around her, highlighting her evolving style on the international stage.
