The CSR Journal Magazine

A birthday trip to Vrindavan resulted in a tragic accident for a couple from Agra. Monika Vanijya, who was celebrating her 28th birthday, died after falling from their scooter and subsequently being run over by a tractor on the Agra-Delhi Highway. The incident occurred at approximately 10 am on September 15, 2026, near the Refinery police station area.

Monika was travelling with her husband, Anshu Vanijya, when she reportedly fell from the scooter. Initial reports suggest that she had dozed off momentarily, which caused her to lose her balance. Unfortunately, a tractor loaded with bricks was closely following them at that time, resulting in the tragic outcome.

Details of the Accident Unfold

As the couple journeyed towards the Banke Bihari temple as part of their birthday celebration, Monika fell onto the highway shortly after departing Agra. The tractor, unable to stop in time, ran over her. The impact was severe, leading to her instantaneous death at the scene.

Anshu lost control of the scooter during the incident and collided with a highway divider, sustaining injuries. Eyewitnesses stated that the driver of the tractor fled the scene immediately after the incident. Emergency services were notified promptly, leading to the arrival of police who began their investigation.

Monika’s body was subsequently sent for post-mortem examination, while Anshu was admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment of his injuries. After receiving the distressing news of the accident, the couple’s families were engulfed in sorrow. Monika’s body was brought back to their family home in Katra Wazir Khan, located in the Etmaduddaula area, at approximately 6:30 pm on the same day.

Couple’s Background and Marital Journey

Monika and Anshu Vanijya had been married for roughly three years after initially starting their relationship five years ago. They were married on April 23, 2023. Both were employed at Bajaj Finance in Agra’s Baluganj area, with Monika working in tele-calling.

The couple had planned the trip to Vrindavan to celebrate Monika’s birthday, intending for it to be a joyful occasion. What should have been a day filled with laughter and joy quickly transformed into mourning, shattering the lives of both families.

Monika’s last rites were conducted at approximately 8 pm on the same day. Her family and relatives were left inconsolable, grieving the loss of a life that had barely begun to bloom at the age of 28. Anshu was also devastated by the sudden demise of his wife, struggling to cope with the tragedy that had completely altered their celebratory plans.
