Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha Launches Important Water Projects and AI-Based Grievance System in Agartala

The CSR Journal Magazine

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has initiated significant urban infrastructure improvements in Agartala by laying the foundation stones for crucial water treatment projects. On October 5, 2026, at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, he announced the construction of a 6.81 MLD capacity Surface Water Treatment Plant located at College Tilla. This facility will be complemented by a 680 KL Overhead Tank, both aimed at enhancing the clean drinking water supply throughout the city.

The investments in these projects are designed to fortify the existing water supply network in Agartala, ensuring that residents have access to safe drinking water. The initiatives reflect the government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure and addressing the needs of the community efficiently.

Introduction of AI-Driven Service Initiatives

On the same day, CM Manik Saha also launched several AI-based initiatives aimed at improving public service delivery. He unveiled Rapid Response Team (RRT) vehicles and truck-mounted water tankers for prompt resolution of civic problems. Additionally, an AI-powered IVR calling system and a dedicated WhatsApp Grievance Redressal System were introduced, aimed at facilitating communication between residents and the government.

These technological advancements allow Agartala’s residents to register complaints and monitor the status of their grievances directly through their smartphones. This approach is expected to minimise administrative delays, thereby enhancing overall efficiency in public service delivery.

According to CM Saha, the integration of technology into governance is crucial for ensuring transparency and accountability. He expressed that good governance involves the provision of basic necessities, including clean drinking water, to all households while making administrative services accessible.

Commitment to Modernisation and Development

The recent developments mark another step forward in the Tripura government’s ongoing efforts to modernise urban infrastructure and promote a citizen-centric governance approach in Northeast India. The event attracted attention from various state officials and municipal representatives, including AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, chief secretary Milind Ramteke, and Jal Jiwan Mission CEO Mihir Gop.

Earlier this month, CM Saha highlighted the government’s commitment to the Smart City Mission for Agartala, as well as a master plan aimed at enhancing infrastructure across all Nagar Panchayat and Municipal Council areas of the state. His focus is on connecting every individual in society with progressive development and improved public services.

Saha reiterated that the government is prioritising infrastructural growth in the Agartala Municipal Corporation area alongside the beautification of the city. This holistic approach, according to the Chief Minister, transcends political considerations and is focused on facilitating development programmes that deliver various services directly to the lives of citizens.
