Fifteen-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, a prominent figure in Indian cricket, has shared his experiences from a remarkable debut Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2025. He made his debut while representing the Rajasthan Royals (RR) against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the age of just 14. Sooryavanshi was acquired by the Royals for 1.1 crore rupees during the auction held in Dubai, and his performance has since set new records within the esteemed league.

First Call from Rajasthan Royals

In an interview during his season, Sooryavanshi recounted the emotional experience when he received the first congratulatory call from Romi Bhinder, the team manager of RR. The conversation took place shortly after his auction selection. “I was in Dubai for the auction and had previously communicated with him after trials,” he explained. Sooryavanshi highlighted the brief yet meaningful conversation that followed his selection, where he received heartfelt congratulations.

Memorable Debut Performance

Sooryavanshi’s IPL debut was marked by a striking performance. He hit a six on the very first ball he faced and later scored 34 runs from 20 deliveries. Recalling that moment, he expressed how special it was to make a powerful entrance into the league. “Hitting a six off the first ball I faced made it an unforgettable memory,” he remarked.

Achieving Milestones Early in His Career

During the season, Sooryavanshi accomplished another significant milestone by scoring a century against the Gujarat Titans (GT). His innings of 100 runs off just 35 balls made him the youngest Indian to score a century in IPL history, a moment he described as immensely fulfilling for both himself and his family. He acknowledged the depth of excitement in having such a strong start to his IPL journey.

Team Success over Individual Glory

Emphasizing a team-oriented perspective, Sooryavanshi underscored the importance of prioritizing team success over personal achievements. He shared valuable lessons from his father, noting that runs are meaningful only if they contribute to the team’s victory. “My father taught me that individual scores are less significant if the team doesn’t win,” he stated, reflecting his commitment to collaborative triumphs.

Looking Ahead in the Tournament

Having recently secured victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Eliminator, Rajasthan Royals are set to face Gujarat in the IPL 2026 Qualifier 2. Sooryavanshi contributed significantly to the team by scoring 97 runs from 29 balls in the previous match. He shared insights into his aspirations for the upcoming match, emphasizing a positive mindset and team unity. “We aim to enjoy the game, embrace the moment, and support each other in pursuit of the finals,” he expressed.

Impressive Season Statistics

In the current season, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has displayed extraordinary form, accumulating 680 runs over 15 innings with an average of 45.33 and a commendable strike rate of 242.85. His performance includes a century and four fifties, alongside a notable best score of 103. In total, he has hit 55 fours and 65 sixes, underscoring his impact on the tournament.
