WhatsApp Plus Launches in India, Offering a Rs 79 Monthly Subscription

The CSR Journal Magazine

WhatsApp Plus has officially launched in India, providing users with a subscription plan for enhanced customisation options. Priced at Rs 79 per month, this is the first subscription offering from the company for the messaging application. The introduction of this plan follows Meta’s announcement the previous month regarding subscription options for its primary social media platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Facebook.

For the subscription fee, users gain access to unique customisation features. WhatsApp Plus allows individuals to modify the app’s interface with 18 new colour themes, including selections like Vibrant Blue and Royal Purple. Additionally, users can choose from 14 new app icon designs that offer a variety from minimalistic to more complex styles.

Furthermore, subscribers receive ten exclusive ringtones, such as Flutter and Carnival, and access to special sticker packs. They will also have the ability to pin up to 20 chats at the top of their chat list, an upgrade from the standard limit. The subscription furthermore enhances user control over chat lists, permitting personalised arrangements.

No Impact on Core Features

It is important to highlight that WhatsApp Plus does not alter any fundamental functionalities of the app. Features such as voice calls, status updates, and end-to-end encryption remain unaffected and continue to be available at no cost to all users. This aspect may appeal to those hesitant about changing their essential experience while seeking additional personalisation.

Subscribers can easily manage their customisation options through the application’s interface. The core functionality of messaging, calling, and sharing media remains intact, ensuring that existing users do not lose any features or capabilities due to this new subscription service.

Potential subscribers need to take note that while the added features do not compromise the existing functionalities, they provide a textural improvement that enhances the user experience for those who wish for a more tailored version of WhatsApp.

Subscription Process for WhatsApp Plus

The process of subscribing to WhatsApp Plus is designed to be user-friendly. Interested individuals need to open their WhatsApp application, navigate to the Settings menu, and select the Subscriptions section to find WhatsApp Plus. Upon selecting the service, users will proceed to review their payment details before confirming their subscription.

Payment transactions are facilitated through the Google Play Store. Once the payment is processed, users will receive a notification indicating that their WhatsApp Plus subscription is active. If the option for WhatsApp Plus does not appear in the Subscriptions section, it may indicate that the plan has not yet been made available for that specific account. Users are advised to check periodically for updates.

New subscribers benefit from an introductory offer, receiving their first month without any charge before the Rs 79 subscription fee initiates. Upon successful registration, all subscribed features will be available for instant activation through the Settings menu, allowing users to explore the newly introduced enhancements.
