The CSR Journal Magazine

The Varanasi Divisional Commissioner, S. Rajalingam, conducted a detailed inspection of ongoing development projects in the district on August 17. His first stop was Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport, where he evaluated the progress of various initiatives aimed at enhancing airport services. The inspection was part of a broader effort to assess the infrastructure growth within the region.

During the visit, Commissioner Rajalingam examined the Integrated Air Cargo Terminal, which spans 8,800 square metres and plays a vital role in facilitating the export of agricultural produce to Gulf nations. Following this, he assessed the ongoing runway expansion. He expressed concerns regarding structures obstructing the expansion process and instructed for their swift removal to ensure the project stays on track.

While reviewing the development work, Rajalingam underscored the importance of the cargo facilities in strengthening Varanasi’s air connectivity and boosting commercial activity. He issued a directive to the officials involved to expedite arrangements and adhere to safety and technical standards throughout the construction process. A show cause notice was reportedly handed to the Tehsildar of Pindra for insufficient oversight on the runway expansion, highlighting the need for accountability in such projects.

Ganjari Cricket Stadium Construction Update

Following his visit to the airport, the Divisional Commissioner proceeded to the Ganjari Cricket Stadium to monitor its construction progress. This project is critical for promoting sporting activities in Varanasi, offering enhanced facilities for local athletes. Rajalingam sought detailed information from officials regarding the current status and quality of construction work being undertaken.

During the inspection, he stressed the necessity of maintaining high standards for construction quality across the entire project. He reminded officials that all tasks must be completed within the set timelines and raised concerns about any potential negligence regarding project oversight. Rajalingam also highlighted the importance of security measures and essential facilities that will complement the stadium’s operations.

The international cricket stadium in Ganjari is being built at an estimated cost of ₹350 crore. As of the inspection, over 80 per cent of the construction had been completed, with a completion target set for early October. The Divisional Commissioner noted this project as a significant milestone for the region’s development in sports infrastructure.

Further Infrastructure Developments

In addition to the airport and cricket stadium inspections, Commissioner Rajalingam evaluated the construction progress at the Sadguru Eye Hospital in Ganjari. He gathered relevant information about the project’s status and was joined by SDM Rajatalab Shantanu and other officials from the concerned departments. The collaboration reflects an ongoing effort to ensure efficient project execution across multiple infrastructure developments.

Rajalingam’s inspections demonstrate a commitment to enhancing Varanasi’s civic amenities while ensuring that development activities align with safety standards and quality benchmarks. By prioritising coordination among different departments and stakeholders, he aims to foster growth and bolster connectivity in the region. These efforts are intended to not only improve local facilities but also to create a more conducive environment for economic and social progress.

The Commissioner’s proactive approach underscores the significance of maintaining regulation and quality in public works. Through ongoing assessments and instruction, Rajalingam strives to uphold the standards required for successful project completion in Varanasi, ultimately benefiting the community at large.
