The Mukhyamantri Yuva Udyami Vikas Abhiyan, a flagship initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government, has emerged as the most popular self-employment scheme among the state’s youth. Launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the scheme has received a staggering 1.96 lakh applications in just the first four months of FY 2025–26, already surpassing its annual target of 1.5 lakh.
This overwhelming response reflects the growing enthusiasm among youth to take charge of their futures and pursue entrepreneurship.
Over 42,000 Youth Receive Loans Statewide
According to official figures, 42,128 young entrepreneurs have already been sanctioned loans this year. A total of 45,463 applications have been approved, with 1.58 lakh forwarded to banks, signaling the fast pace of implementation.
In comparison, during the previous year (2024–25), 28,000 youth received loans, out of over 1.78 lakh applications. The increased efficiency has been attributed to improved coordination between the MSME department and banking institutions.
Jaunpur Leads the State
Among districts, Jaunpur emerged as the frontrunner, distributing loans to 1,385 youth so far. District Magistrate Dr. Dinesh Chandra Singh credited a dedicated district-level drive that encouraged timely processing of loan requests.
Azamgarh came second with 1,256 loans disbursed, while Lucknow, the state capital, secured third place by facilitating 920 loans. Both districts exceeded their initial targets within a short span.
Other High Performer: Kanpur Nagar
Kanpur Nagar disbursed loans to 909 youth, and Agra closely followed with 903 loans, securing fourth and fifth positions, respectively. Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ambedkarnagar also showed strong performance under the scheme.
Regular reviews, monthly meetings with banks, and strong administrative support have contributed to the rapid success of the scheme across districts.
