A 30-year-old man was fatally shot outside his car wash shop in the Rampur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday. The incident was captured on CCTV, which shows two assailants dragging the victim, Navjot Singh, from inside the shop before shooting him. It is reported that Navjot was conversing with another individual when the attackers arrived in a car.

The footage reveals that the vehicle halted in front of the shop. Subsequently, two men, their faces concealed with cloth, exited the car. They forcibly pulled Navjot out of the shop despite his attempts to resist, during which his turban was dislodged. The assailants then pushed him to the ground and shot him before fleeing the scene in the same vehicle.

Investigation and Possible Motives

Authorities, led by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anurag Singh, confirmed that the investigation is focused on uncovering the motive behind the murder. Reports indicate that four shots were fired, striking Navjot in the chest, and his body has since been sent for a post-mortem analysis. A potential motive related to a marriage dispute is currently under scrutiny.

According to Navjot’s father, there are allegations implicating his son’s in-laws in the murder. The complaint suggests that the motive may stem from Navjot’s marriage to a woman who is older than him. The victim’s familial background has added complexity to the situation, as he was reportedly the only son in his family.

The woman in question was previously widowed and has two children. Navjot entered into marriage approximately ten years ago, and the details surrounding this union are being reviewed as part of the investigation. Police are currently interviewing individuals connected to the case and gathering further evidence.
