Uttar Pradesh STF Dismantles Major SSC Exam Scam, Seven Arrested

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) has successfully dismantled a significant operation reportedly orchestrated to manipulate Staff Selection Commission (SSC) examinations. This scheme allegedly guaranteed candidates a passing score in return for approximately Rs 4 lakh per individual. The crackdown occurred on May 22, 2026, at an examination centre in Greater Noida, leading to the apprehension of seven suspects, including the alleged mastermind behind the racket.

During the raid, officers recovered around Rs 50 lakh in cash, alongside laptops, mobile phones, and multiple documents tied to the examination processes. The STF’s initial investigation followed intelligence alerts concerning organised deception in SSC online assessments. This led them to a location known as “Balaji Digital Zone,” positioned in the Knowledge Park area of Greater Noida.

The seven individuals detained were identified as Pradeep Chauhan, Arun Kumar, Sandeep Bhati, Nishant Raghav, Amit Rana, Shakir Malik, and Vivek Kumar. Investigators found that the methodology employed by the group involved sophisticated technical techniques to circumvent the fair conduct of examinations, thereby undermining the integrity of the recruitment process.

Mechanics of the Examination Scam

According to the officials, the gang did not directly breach the SSC examination system. Instead, they allegedly managed to set up a proxy server that bypassed the main company’s server at the examination centre. Using a screen-sharing application, they reportedly transmitted question papers to solvers who were positioned outside the centre.

These external solvers would process the questions and communicate correct answers back to candidates undergoing the examination in real time. Scrutiny indicates that Pradeep Chauhan was a longstanding figure in orchestrating this scam, having established the centre where the SSC online examinations were conducted in collaboration with the company Eduquity.

Arun Kumar reportedly played a crucial role in managing the technical aspects of the cheating operation, which included the set-up and ongoing maintenance of the proxy server, critical for facilitating this fraudulent network.

Wider Implications and Ongoing Investigations

The reveal of this scam comes at a time when examination integrity is under heightened scrutiny across India. Concerns have surged following the controversy surrounding the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak, which had triggered nationwide protests among students and parents alike. Reports indicated that question papers had been circulated prior to the official test, raising serious alarms about the security of examination protocols.

This incident has reignited discussions regarding the systematic vulnerabilities within large-scale entrance and recruitment examinations. The STF is currently broadening its investigation to understand the wider network connected to the SSC examination scam, which may include additional technical experts, middlemen, and beneficiaries involved in the scheme.

Officials plan to explore whether the methods employed in this operation were also applicable to other recruitment examinations conducted in recent years. The ongoing probing indicates that the STF is committed to uncovering the extent of this network to prevent future breaches and preserve the integrity of the examination system throughout the nation.
