UP Men Abducted, Beaten, Forced to Drink Urine & Chant ‘Islam Zindabad’ Over ‘Love Jihad’ Tip-Off

The CSR Journal Magazine

In a shocking incident two Hindu men from Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district alleged they were abducted, stripped, and brutally tortured. They claimed that this happened after they previously reported a suspected case of ‘love jihad’ to the police. The incident reportedly occurred on July 23 . However it came to light after one of the victims, Chandan Maurya, filed a complaint at Ramgaon police station.

According to Chandan’s statement, he, his cousin Mohit, and a friend named Annu were en route to a birthday celebration. During the journey they were intercepted by Shahabuddin and two others from Mehari Baikha village. Two more individuals, Anas and Zeeshan, allegedly joined later.

Chandan further stated that he and Mohit were then forced into a vehicle, They were taken to a remote location, and subjected to physical abuse. Chandan claimed they were stripped, beaten with iron rods, and denied water. Not just that he further informed the police that they were even forced to drink urine when thirsty. He also alleged they were forced into chanting “Islam Zindabad” at gunpoint.

Police statement

Police officials said that many of the serious allegations, including forced religious slogans, were not mentioned in the original FIR. “These claims surfaced later and are being examined,” said Additional SP Durga Prasad Tiwari. He further said, “These allegations have not yet been substantiated with any evidence. They were not part of the original complaint and have surfaced later. We are investigating”.

Preliminary findings suggest the incident may have been motivated by a personal feud. Police have arrested Shahabuddin, Anas, and Zeeshan, and rescued the victims near Matera. “Initial probe indicates personal enmity between the groups. A case has been registered and three accused” Shahabuddin, Anas, and Zeeshan” have been arrested,” said Additional SP Durga Prasad Tiwari.

The victim, Chandan further alleged that the attackers belonged to an Instagram group named “Baba Guruup”. This group operated under fake Hindu identities to entrap Hindu girls via social media for religious conversions. He accused local police of ignoring his earlier complaint and even deleting evidence from his phone instead of taking action. The allegations are now part of an expanded investigation.

Man in Conversion Racket Wants to Reconvert

In a similar incident reported weeks ago, Mohammad Ali, previously known as Piyush Panwar, was arrested in a statewide illegal conversion racket. However the accused has claimed he was misled, forced to convert and now wishes to return to Hinduism. He told police he converted under pressure in 2021. He further alleged that he later became involved with a network linked to banned outfit PFI and cleric Kaleem Siddiqui.

Ali’s arrest is part of ‘Mission Asmita’, a crackdown on forced religious conversions and radicalisation. Police said the network operated across multiple states and had connections to global terror models.

Meanwhile, investigations into both cases are ongoing, with a deeper probe underway to dismantle such conversion rackets and bring those involved to justice.
