On Sunday, two abandoned suitcases along the Durgavati riverbanks in Kaimur district, Bihar, led to a grim find. Villagers, drawn by a foul odour, decided to inspect the unattended bags and were met with a horrific sight—mutilated human remains encased inside. The incident occurred in the jurisdiction of the Ramgarh police station, close to the Chaurasia bridge.

Upon opening the suitcases, eyewitness accounts revealed that the contents included dismembered human body parts. Local representatives described the scene as extremely alarming, noting that the remains appeared to be chopped into various pieces. Preliminary assessments have suggested that there may be at least one child and one adult among the deceased, although authorities have yet to identify the victims officially.

Police Investigation Initiated

Kaimur Superintendent of Police Harmohan Shukla confirmed that the police were alerted following reports of body parts floating in the Durgavati river. After receiving the information, forensic and photography teams were dispatched to the location for a comprehensive investigation. Shukla stated, “Two suitcases have been recovered containing numerous human body parts, including limbs and torso. The remains are in an advanced state of decomposition.”

Authorities suspect that the murders may have been committed at a different location before the bodies were discarded along the riverbank. This method may have been intended to eliminate evidence and confuse investigators. As of now, there have been no reports of missing persons known to correspond with this incident in the district.

In an effort to expedite the identification process, nearby districts and police stations have been notified regarding the case. The remains have been sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic analysis is currently in progress to ascertain vital details such as the time of death and the total number of victims.
