Two individuals have been detained and subsequently jailed in connection with the purported rape and molestation of a married woman in Banda district, Uttar Pradesh. According to the woman, while she was en route to refill a gas cylinder, a neighbour offered her a lift on his motorcycle. Instead of taking her to her destination, he allegedly diverted her to the residence of an acquaintance. This action formed the basis of her complaint.

The woman asserted that upon reaching the house, both men began consuming alcohol. She alleged that afterwards, one of them proceeded to molest her while the other allegedly sexually assaulted her. The situation escalated to threats of violence when she resisted their advances, reportedly including threats to kill her.

After managing to return home, the victim disclosed the events to her family, who encouraged her to reach out to the authorities. Based on her written complaint, the police took swift action and registered a case against both suspects under appropriate legal statutes. Assistant Superintendent of Police in Banda, Mavis Tok, stated, “We received information from the Mataundh police station pertaining to the sexual assault of a married woman by two neighbours. Senior officials promptly inspected the location, and a case was filed based on her written allegations.” This demonstrates the police’s commitment to responding to sensitive cases efficiently.

Following the incident, the woman underwent a medical examination, and her testimony was recorded for legal proceedings in court.
