Tata Motors has introduced the Aeris, a compact sedan designed primarily for private car owners. This model is available with both petrol and CNG powertrains, as well as the option of an automated manual transmission (AMT). The starting price for the petrol variant is set at Rs 5.29 lakh, while the CNG version begins at Rs 6.29 lakh, both prices being ex-showroom.

The Aeris is positioned as a new identity for Tata Motors in the compact sedan category, reflecting the brand’s focus on traditional sedan attributes such as comfort, space, stability, and efficiency. Alongside these qualities, the vehicle includes modern styling, advanced technology, and enhanced safety features. Bookings for the Aeris have commenced, and deliveries are set to start on October 11.

Aeris Features an Updated Exterior Design

The exterior of the Aeris showcases a significantly refreshed design, giving it a contemporary and sharper look. Key features include slimmer LED headlights and eyebrow-style daytime running lights (DRLs), as well as a gloss-black grille. The bumper is enhanced with black detailing and pixel-inspired LED fog lamps. Higher variants feature 15-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, while the lower trims and CNG models are equipped with 14-inch wheels.

Additional exterior details comprise chrome door handles, slim wheel-arch cladding, and chrome trim around the windows. At the rear, the sedan features slimmer LED tail-lights connected by a distinct red element, while the revised bumper includes a centrally located reverse parking light. Six exterior colour options are available for customers: Nitro Crimson, Pure Grey, Dandeli Drizzle, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, and Dune Glow.

Aeris Incorporates Advanced Interior Technology

Inside, the Tata Aeris features a lighter cabin theme with a dashboard centred around a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The sedan also includes a semi-digital instrument cluster and a two-spoke steering wheel equipped with physical controls. Significant additions comprise ventilated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and leatherette upholstery.

One innovative feature introduced in the Aeris is the DashCam Recorder function, utilising the vehicle’s surround-view camera system for video recording. In terms of safety, the sedan is well-equipped with six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitoring, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill-hold assist, and Isofix child-seat mounts.

Aeris Specifically Targets Private Car Buyers

Tata Motors emphasises that the Aeris has been developed explicitly for private car buyers, distinguishing it from other compact sedans typically aimed at fleet markets. The strategy behind this model is to combine everyday usability, comfort, efficiency, and space, while delivering a more premium technology and design proposition within the segment.

Specifications reveal that the Aeris measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,684 mm in width, and 1,532 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450 mm and ground clearance of 170 mm. The petrol variant offers a boot space of 419 litres. Notably, the CNG version adopts Tata’s dual-cylinder system, which is designed to maintain ample luggage space despite accommodating the additional requirements for CNG fuel.

The Aeris is powered by a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine, generating 86 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. This engine can be coupled with either a five-speed manual or a five-speed AMT. The CNG version mirrors the petrol engine’s specifications, producing 76 bhp and 97 Nm of torque while being available in both manual and AMT configurations, making it one of India’s few compact sedans to offer a CNG powertrain with an AMT option.
