The CSR Journal Magazine

Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles has announced a 15 per cent rise in sales for September 2026, reporting a total of 70,210 units sold in both domestic and international markets. This figure marks a significant increase from the 60,907 units sold in the same month the previous year. Domestic market performance was particularly strong, with 68,810 units sold during September 2026, compared to 59,667 units in September 2025.

This consistent growth reflects a steady demand for the company’s vehicles in India. Moreover, the company’s international sales also increased, reaching 1,400 units, which is a 13 per cent growth from the 1,240 units sold in September 2025. The surge in both domestic and international sales underscores Tata Motors’ expanding market presence.

Electric Vehicle Sales Surge

Electric vehicle sales have emerged as a key driver for Tata Motors’ growth, achieving a remarkable 67 per cent increase in September 2026. The company sold 15,384 electric vehicles during the month, compared to 9,191 units sold in the same month a year prior. Sales of electric vehicles reached their highest quarterly level in Q2 FY27, totalling 47,150 units, which represents a 90 per cent increase from the 24,855 units sold in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

This impressive performance signals the growing acceptance of electric vehicles among consumers. According to company reports, electric vehicles accounted for 23 per cent of Tata Motors’ overall sales during the quarter. Such figures highlight the organisation’s commitment to sustaining growth in the EV sector.

Positive Market Outlook Ahead of Festive Season

The sales figures for September have positioned Tata Motors well as it prepares for the upcoming festive season, with notable customer interest across its diverse portfolio. The company reported that its Punch model has become the top-selling SUV in India for Q2 FY27. Additionally, Tata Motors has broadened its range by launching new models such as the Curvv SeriesX, Sierra Legend Series, and the innovative Tata Aeris.

This expansion is expected to strengthen the company’s market position further. Looking ahead, Tata Motors anticipates that the positive sales momentum will continue into the festive season, backed by a substantial order book and robust customer demand. This optimistic outlook is further supported by the overall quarterly performance, with total passenger vehicle sales reaching 2,01,723 units, which marks a 40 per cent increase compared to the 1,44,397 units sold in Q2 FY26.
