The CSR Journal Magazine

A tragic incident occurred in Janakpuri, Delhi, where a six-year-old girl lost her life after an e-rickshaw she was traveling in collided with a car. The distressing event took place on February 17, prompting an immediate response from the police following a call from Mata Chanan Devi Hospital. Despite medical efforts, the child was later pronounced dead at Max Hospital in Dwarka. Authorities conducted her postmortem at DDU Hospital.

Victim’s Grandmother Confirms the Details

Mercy Xavier, the girl’s grandmother and an eyewitness to the accident, reported that they were in the e-rickshaw when it was struck by a car near the Fire Station in Janakpuri, leading to the rickshaw overturning. In light of the incident, police officials have filed a First Information Report (FIR). The car involved has been confiscated, and the driver, identified as Sanjeev, was arrested and is now being held in custody.

Another Fatal Road Incident in Dwarka

In a separate event, a man was killed in a road accident in Dwarka when a car, allegedly driven by an underage individual without a driving license, struck his motorcycle.

This incident has drawn significant attention, particularly after the mother of the deceased, a 23-year-old identified as Sahil Dhaneshra, expressed her grief on social media following the juvenile driver’s release on interim bail granted by the Juvenile Justice Board. She emphasized her loss, sharing that her son, whom she raised as a single parent, was taken too soon.

Details of the Dwarka Incident

The collision involving Sahil Dhaneshra occurred near Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka South. Initial investigations revealed that the car collided with Dhaneshra’s motorcycle, subsequently crashing into another parked vehicle.

Following the incident, police registered an FIR at the Dwarka South Police Station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Emergency services arrived on the scene shortly after a PCR call was received at around 11:57 am, discovering three damaged vehicles, including the motorcycle.

Further Investigation Underway

Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered that Sahil Dhaneshra was pronounced dead at the scene. The postmortem examination has been completed, and the report is now available. An injured taxi driver involved in the incident was taken to IGI Hospital, where his statement has been recorded, with further medical evaluations pending.

The accused, a minor, was found operating the vehicle without a valid license and was taken into custody. The minor has since been presented to the Juvenile Justice Board and directed to an Observation Home, where he was subsequently granted interim bail based on his upcoming Class 10 examinations.

Ongoing Legal and Investigative Actions

Police have seized all three vehicles involved in the Dwarka accident for mechanical inspection, and relevant documentation has been verified. Additionally, CCTV footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the investigation into each incident. Authorities continue to gather evidence and conduct interviews as they work towards a comprehensive understanding of the events that led to these unfortunate tragedies.
