The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has given its endorsement to welfare and development plans exceeding Rs 24,500 crore. A significant component of the Cabinet’s resolutions includes a 20 per cent reservation for Agniveers in various uniformed state services. This measure aims to facilitate the entry of young recruits into roles such as Police Constable, Special Armed Force, Jail Guard, Forest Guard, and Excise Constable.

This decision comes as part of broader efforts to support military veterans and integrate them into civil service effectively. By offering this reservation, the state government is reportedly attempting to recognise the contributions of Agniveers while addressing personnel shortages in these critical sectors.

Educational and Health Sector Allocations

Within the education sector, the Cabinet sanctioned Rs 5,329.17 crore to extend the guest teacher honourarium scheme from the academic years 2026-27 to 2030-31. Currently, over 76,000 guest teachers are employed across government primary, middle, high, and higher secondary schools throughout Madhya Pradesh. This funding aims to enhance educational standards in government institutions by retaining quality teaching staff.

In terms of health infrastructure, the Cabinet approved Rs 3,245.80 crore for the construction and enhancement of Community Health Centres, Sub-Health Centres, and Primary Health Centres. This financial support is intended to bolster the drug regulatory system and ensure drug control from April 1, 2026, until March 31, 2031. Such investments are pivotal in improving health services across the state.

The Cabinet also sanctioned funding for the expansion of Singrauli District Hospital, increasing its capacity from 450 to 605 beds. This development is aimed at improving local healthcare facilities through better-equipped medical services, addressing the growing needs of the population.

Irrigation and Infrastructure Projects Approved

The Cabinet has taken steps to enhance irrigation projects by approving Rs 1,608.02 crore for the continuation of the Maa Ratangarh Multipurpose Irrigation Project in Datia. Additional funding includes Rs 524.65 crore for the Rampura Manasa Micro Lift Irrigation Project in Neemuch and Rs 1,052 crore for the Banda Major Irrigation Project in Sagar. Such initiatives are designed to strengthen irrigation capabilities in these regions, which is critical for agricultural output.

Moreover, Rs 4,470.30 crore has been administratively approved for the construction of a 105.10-kilometre four-lane Damoh-Katni road under the Hybrid Annuity Model. This infrastructure project highlights the government’s commitment to improving transportation networks that are vital for regional connectivity.

Furthermore, the Cabinet approved Rs 358.22 crore for the continuation of the Kanh Diversion Closed Duct Project in Ujjain, aimed at diverting polluted water from the Kanh River. This initiative will safeguard the Shipra River, especially in view of the upcoming Simhastha 2028 event.

Additions to Judicial and Social Services

The Cabinet’s decisions also encompass the allocation of Rs 1,342.48 crore for 14 schemes under the Law and Legislative Affairs Department, targeting infrastructure improvements in judicial settings. Funding is intended for new High Court buildings, residential complexes for legal professionals, and enhancements at the State Judicial Academy.

Additionally, Rs 622.37 crore has been approved for the administration of court processes, covering salaries and allowances for process servers throughout subordinate courts. The government has also initiated the distribution of food grains at Rs 1 per kilogram for meals in hostels and community welfare centres.

Other measures include the establishment of new positions in district handloom offices and the revision of transit fee rates for forest produce transportation. The Cabinet also approved Rs 691.01 crore to address pending liabilities related to construction under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme, ensuring the continuation of critical civic projects.
