The Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS) 2026, a five-day event, concluded on September 29. The trade show generated significant interest, resulting in the signing of 4,400 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with a total estimated value of Rs 6,500 crore, which is approximately $680 million. Additionally, the event facilitated potential business opportunities valued at around Rs 15,500 crore.

Held at the India Expo Centre & Mart from September 25 to 29, the fourth edition of UPITS showcased a variety of industries, enabling domestic and international businesses to engage directly with local entrepreneurs and manufacturers. This engagement was seen as pivotal in establishing long-term partnerships and collaborative efforts.

According to official data shared by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), the event recorded 41,500 business-to-business (B2B) meetings, indicating increased engagement compared to previous years. The high participation rate and extensive networking opportunities underscored the event’s success in fostering business relationships.

Growth in Interaction and Participation

Throughout the event, 41,500 B2B meetings were conducted, a substantial increase of 31.12 per cent from the 31,650 meetings held in 2025. Notably, the Reverse Buyers-Sellers Meet (RBSM) section witnessed a remarkable rise in sessions with foreign buyers, increasing by 123.1 per cent, from 6,050 in 2025 to 13,500 this year.

In the main exhibition area, approximately 28,000 business interactions took place, reflecting a growth of 9.38 per cent. The signing of MoUs saw an increase of 12.82 per cent, up from 3,900 in the previous year, alongside a significant rise in their estimated value, which escalated by 142.54 per cent from Rs 2,680 crore (about $425 million).

The rise in business enquiries was noteworthy, with an increase of 24 per cent leading to an estimated potential business growth from Rs 12,500 crore to Rs 15,500 crore. This surge indicates a flourishing business climate and promising prospects for future investments and partnerships.

International Participation and Local Representation

International collaboration significantly expanded at this year’s event. The number of partner countries increased from one, Russia, in the previous edition, to six, including Russia, Austria, Japan, Singapore, Belarus, and Vietnam. These countries engaged in various sectors such as manufacturing, information technology, electronics, textiles, and agri-food processing.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “One District, One Dish (ODOC)” initiative attracted substantial attention from both foreign and domestic buyers. This scheme facilitated direct access for local artisans and MSMEs to showcase traditional crafts, handloom products, brass items, carpets, and distinct agricultural products from Uttar Pradesh’s 75 districts to a global market.

The trade show emphasized practical business interactions, enabling MSMEs to secure direct orders from international firms. Such outcomes reflect the event’s focus on fostering meaningful connections and enhancing the business ecosystem within the state.

Significance for the Economy

UPITS 2026 marked a significant milestone towards promoting Uttar Pradesh’s economic growth and contributing to its ambition of becoming a one-trillion-dollar economy. The successful outcomes from this trade show indicate a positive trend in the state’s ability to attract investment and facilitate export opportunities.

The concluding figures underscore a comprehensive strategy aimed at enhancing business capabilities and expanding market reach for local industries. With increased participation from various sectors, UPITS has solidified its role as a vital platform for fostering international trade relations and showcasing the potential of Uttar Pradesh.

As this edition wraps up, stakeholders remain optimistic about the future, anticipating further growth and development in the state’s trade landscape, buoyed by the successful interactions that transpired during this year’s show.
