Sree Charani, the Indian spinner, has established a new record in the ICC Women’s T20I Bowling Rankings, achieving the highest-ever rating points. According to the latest update from the ICC, Charani amassed 817 points, surpassing the previous record of 806 points held by Australia’s Megan Schutt since November 2018. This significant milestone highlights Charani’s exceptional skill and consistency in her bowling performances.

The left-arm spinner currently holds the top rank in T20I bowling, a testament to her outstanding capabilities on the field. Her impressive form has been instrumental in India’s success in several key tournaments, showcasing her as a vital player for the national team.

Impressive Performances in Recent Tournaments

Charani played a pivotal role in India’s triumph at the Women’s Asia Cup, where her performance was noteworthy. She claimed 12 wickets throughout the tournament, including a remarkable match-winning spell of 4/20 in the final against Sri Lanka. This victory marked India’s eighth title in the competition, illustrating the team’s dominance in women’s cricket.

Continuing her exceptional form, Charani also shone during the 2026 Asian Games held in Japan. She recorded her career-best figures of 4/10 against the host nation in the quarterfinals, further solidifying her reputation as a leading bowler. Her two wickets in the gold medal match against Sri Lanka were crucial in helping India secure the title, further elevating her status in the rankings.

All-rounder Deepti Sharma also saw an increase in her T20I bowling ranking after taking three wickets in the Asian Games final, moving her rating to 754. Meanwhile, England’s Sophie Ecclestone remains in third place in the rankings with 723 points, reflecting the competitive nature of women’s T20I bowling.

Smriti Mandhana Returns to Batting Rankings Top Five

In addition to Charani’s achievements, Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has made a notable return to the top five of the ICC Women’s T20I Batting Rankings. Mandhana scored 79 runs in the Asian Games final against Sri Lanka, contributing significantly to her team’s efforts and reinforcing her position as a top performer in women’s cricket.

The ICC Women’s ODI Rankings have also seen changes, with West Indies captain Hayley Matthews moving up three places to fourth among batters, following her record-breaking 182-run innings against Zimbabwe. This performance underscores the evolving talent within international women’s cricket.

In the same series, several players from Zimbabwe and the West Indies made notable gains. Zimbabwe’s Nyasha Gwanzura improved by 52 places to reach 156th in the ODI bowling rankings after achieving career-best figures of 4/33. Meanwhile, Modester Mupachikwa advanced 16 spots to a career-high 40th in batting rankings, thanks to her scores of 86 and 38 in recent matches.
