Shimla Police on Thursday initiated legal proceedings concerning an alleged abduction reported at the Chirgaon Police Station. The case emerged after a group of individuals in civilian attire, driving vehicles registered in other states, reportedly forcibly took three guests from the Chanshul Resort in Chirgaon. This event, initially characterized as a daylight kidnapping, led to a coordinated police response across multiple districts.
The situation escalated during the morning hours as the owner of Chanshul Resort contacted the police, claiming that men in plain clothes had taken three guests and removed equipment, including a Digital Video Recorder from the premises. The Shimla Police swiftly recognized the seriousness of the situation and began investigations to establish facts and comply with legal protocols.
The incident transpired in connection with a protest conducted by members of the Indian Youth Congress at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. In response, the Shimla Police collaborated closely with the Solan Police to intercept the individuals allegedly involved. Police teams set up checkpoints at several locations, including Shoghi, ISBT Shimla, and Dharampur, to verify the identities of those involved.
Upon investigation, it became clear that the individuals in question were actually police personnel from Delhi and Haryana. They had been following and detaining the three guests as part of an ongoing case registered in Delhi. Consequently, the Shimla Police presented the detained individuals to the local court for further proceedings.
In accordance with legal requirements, the three individuals were subjected to medical examinations at Ripon Hospital in Shimla. Following these actions, the ACJM-II Court in Shimla granted a transit remand lasting approximately 18 hours. Upon completion of necessary formalities and verification, the Delhi and Haryana Police teams received clearance to transport the individuals back to Delhi.
Simultaneously, the Shimla Police registered an FIR under relevant legal provisions in response to the owner’s complaint regarding the incident at Chanshul Resort. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding this abduction scare is currently ongoing, with authorities working to gather more information related to the event.
