Schools in Ahmedabad and Noida received bomb threats ahead of Republic Day via email, confirmed by the crime branch on Friday. An investigation has been initiated post receiving the information, bomb squad and forensic department are currently examining the schools in Ahmedabad that received threat. On the other hand, Shiv Nadar school, Bal Bharati school and Cambridge school in Noida also received threat emails and the principal of the schools announced a holiday today.
Through an email, the principal of the Shiv Nadar school informed parents, “Dear Parent, we have received an email with a Bomb threat this morning and as a precautionary measure to allow for a security sweep, the school will remain closed today, Friday, January 23, 2026,”. The email also noted, “School buses are being sent back and parents are requested to receive their child at the designated drop-off spot. Parents may connect with the respective bus staff for real-time updates on arrival at the designated location,”.
Similarly, the Cambridge School after receiving a bomb threat through email, informed the parents of the situation and asked them to pick up their children as a precautionary measure. Bal Bharati school was also put on high alert, pre-primary classes, that includes Nursery, LKG, and UKG, were dismissed. But no such precautionary email was sent by Bal Bharati school. Rather the school is operating as usual, standard 1 to 12 students are attending classes.
What Noida police said
Noida police confirmed that after receiving information regarding the threat emails sent to a few private schools, police personnel from various police stations, the bomb squad, fire brigade, dog squad, and BDDS team have been deployed and currently checking is done. Police also added that the cyber team is also at work, they are trying to track the source of the email.
Meanwhile, bomb squads, fire brigades and other security personnel are deployed in private schools in Ahmedabad Xavier’s and St. Kabir, who reported similar bomb threat emails. Ahmedabad police confirmed that after the school administrations contacted them, they sent a team without any delay. Meanwhile, the Ahmedabad crime is investigating the source of the emails.
