Samsung Introduces New Payment Scheme for Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra

The CSR Journal Magazine

Samsung is making it easier for customers to purchase its latest Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra smartphones through a new payment scheme called the Galaxy Forever programme. This initiative, aimed at enhancing affordability, allows consumers to face reduced monthly payments over a two-year period by cutting their EMI by 25 per cent.

Under the Galaxy Forever programme, consumers will pay 60 per cent of the device’s price through 24 monthly instalments or EMIs. The remaining 40 per cent is deferred as a final payment, often referred to as a bullet payment. This structure is designed to ease the financial burden on buyers, making premium foldable technology more accessible.

Additionally, the programme includes an assured buyback option and the Samsung Care Plus protection plan. Customers can choose to return their devices or upgrade to newer models at specified intervals, subject to programme conditions. This flexibility aims to attract more customers to foldable smartphone options.

Pricing and Impact on Monthly EMIs

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at a price of Rs 1,99,999 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at Rs 1,79,999 for the base variants in July. Following the introduction of the Galaxy Forever programme, the monthly EMI for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has been reduced from Rs 9,417 to Rs 6,997. Similarly, the Galaxy Z Fold 8’s EMI decreased from Rs 8,584 to Rs 6,416.

The reduced EMIs are applicable throughout the 24-month programme period, along with the required programme fees. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of this offer, as it presents an opportunity for those who may have hesitated due to high upfront costs. The scheme aims to provide a more manageable way for consumers to invest in advanced technology.

Upon completing the two-year period, users will have three options regarding their devices. They can either upgrade to the latest Galaxy model by returning their current phone, pay off the remaining 40 per cent of the purchase price while retaining the phone, or return the device altogether and exit the programme. These options add to the flexibility of the Galaxy Forever programme.

Buyback Values and Samsung Care Plus Benefits

The Galaxy Forever programme includes significant buyback values that customers can benefit from if they choose to return the device. Assured buyback values can go as high as 55 per cent for devices returned after 10 to 11 months. The buyback value decreases thereafter, with rates of up to 50 per cent after 12 to 13 months, 45 per cent after 14 to 18 months, and 40 per cent after 19 to 25 months.

It is crucial for customers to note that these buyback values are offered under the programme’s “No Questions Asked” policy, which allows for returns within the stipulated time frames, subject to the programme’s terms and conditions. This provision aims to encourage customer confidence in the new payment scheme.

Moreover, Samsung Care Plus is included in the programme, offering coverage for accidental and liquid damage without additional claim processing fees. This added benefit means consumers will not have to purchase protection separately, contributing to the overall value of the Galaxy Forever programme.
