Samsung May Introduce Galaxy OS with Major Redesign and Paid AI Features

The CSR Journal Magazine

Samsung has recently launched its Android 17-based One UI 9 update for various devices, including the Galaxy S26 series. This update has also been made available for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and Galaxy S26 FE. Users are currently adapting to the new features, which include updated quick settings and a revamped Notes app. However, reports indicate that Samsung is already in the early stages of planning a significant redesign for its next major software version, tentatively referred to as One UI 10.

Rebranding and User Experience Enhancements

Speculation suggests that One UI 10 may be so transformative that Samsung could abandon the One UI branding altogether, opting instead for a new name ‘Galaxy OS’. According to industry tipster Ice Universe, this upcoming version is expected to introduce “unprecedented” changes aimed at enhancing user experience. A primary focus of the redesign will be to streamline the interface by reducing clutter.

The new system is anticipated to facilitate a “contextual flow”, meaning that users will no longer need to navigate through intricate sub-menus or switch between multiple standalone applications. Instead, related information—such as calendar events, real-time locations, and messaging—will be consolidated into a single, cohesive view. This approach aims to expedite common daily tasks by minimising the need for excessive screen navigation and taps.

In addition to user interface improvements, Samsung is reportedly planning to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply across its Galaxy device ecosystem. The intention is to create a hardware-accelerated design language that allows seamless connectivity between Galaxy smartphones, tablets, wearables, and laptops. This interconnectedness is expected to enhance the overall user experience significantly.

AI Features and Subscription Model

While basic on-device AI functionalities are likely to remain free for users, reports suggest that more advanced, cloud-based features may require a paid subscription. These features are expected to involve complex cloud computing tasks and third-party integrations, which could lead to additional costs for users seeking enhanced capabilities.

The anticipated overhaul is expected to coincide with the 10th anniversary of One UI. Some reports, including those from Gizmochina, indicate that the update could be unveiled in mid-2027, potentially alongside next-generation foldable devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold 9 and Galaxy Z Flip 9. Other leaks, however, suggest that the launch might be pushed to early 2028.

It may coincide with the release of the flagship Galaxy S28 series, which will run on Android 18. As of now, Samsung has not officially confirmed any details regarding the rebranding or the new features associated with One UI 10. Therefore, it is prudent to regard these early reports as speculative until further information is released by the company.
