After Rohini Acharya, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s four daughters quit Patna residence

The CSR Journal Magazine

The rift within Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family seems to be widening two days after a massive setback for RJD in Bihar assembly election. A day after Rohini’s public outburst and her announcement that she was cutting ties with the family, four more of the RJD chief’s daughters, Rajlakshmi, Ragini, Hema and Chanda, quietly left the family’s Patna residence with their children and travelled to Delhi, signaling a deepening split in one of Bihar’s most influential political families.

What Rohini is saying

Day after quitting politics and ‘disowning’ her family, former Bihar chief minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya has levelled serious allegations against her brother Tejashwi Yadav.

In a series of posts on X, on Sunday, Rohini charged cohorts of her brother, including accusing her of donating a “bad” kidney to her father, “in exchange for crores of rupees and a party ticket”

She further alleged that she had been

“driven out” of her home by Tejashwi, Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, a close friend since her brother’s cricketing days.

“Yesterday abuses were heaped on me and I was accused of donating my bad kidney to my father, and that too in exchange for crores of rupees and a party ticket” , sald

Acharya, who had contested the Saran Lok Sabha seat in last year’s general elections.

In an obvious dig at Tejashwi and Sanjay Yadav, she said, “I would tell all married women never to do anything to save their parents, and if they have a brother, they should ask him to donate his own kidney or ask his Haryanavi friend to do so”.

“I committed a sin by donating my kidney without seeking the approval of my husband or in-laws or thinking of my three children… may no daughter meet the fate of Rohini” added Acharya, who had been based in Singapore, where her father underwent a kidney transplant three years ago.

In another post, she alleged that despite being “a married woman and a mother”, abuses were hurled at her and “a slipper was picked up to hurl at me” which led her to “leave my home, amid sobs, abandoning my parents and sisters”

“I have been made an orphan. May no household give birth to a daughter and a sister with a fate like that of Rohini” , she
added.

Mukesh Sahani reacts to the controversy

However, reacting to Lalu’s family dispute, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani said that internal tensions often surface after electoral setbacks. He remarked that blaming a single individual is not the correct approach. Sahani added that leaders should introspect and move forward by learning from their mistakes.

”This is their family matter… It often happens that if there is a defeat, the blame is put on one person… I think this is not right… We should learn from our mistakes and move forward…,” he told the media.

Chirag Paswan appeals for calm and unity

Meanwhile, Union Minister and LJP (Ram Vilas) president Chirag Paswan refrained from criticising the Yadav family but expressed empathy for their situation.  He said he considers Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family his own despite political differences and prayed that the dispute is resolved soon. Paswan stated that unity within a family helps individuals face external challenges more strongly.

He added that he does not believe a daughter’s real home becomes her marital home after marriage and called such thinking outdated. He said Rohini’s emotional statements reflect her pain and hoped the situation improves soon.
