Ram Charan’s Peddi Achieves Rs 35 Crore in Global Advance Bookings

The CSR Journal Magazine

Ram Charan’s film Peddi has garnered significant interest through advance bookings prior to its release on June 4. Paid premiere screenings are scheduled for June 3 at select theatres, contributing to a robust initial showing. According to data from industry tracker Sacnilk, the film reportedly collected Rs 9.82 crore in early advance bookings without block bookings.

When incorporating block bookings, the total advance collection reached Rs 16.66 crore by Wednesday afternoon. Overall, the movie has achieved a noteworthy Rs 35 crore gross in advance sales on a global scale, indicating a strong demand primarily within the Telugu market.

As anticipation builds, the film is particularly significant for Ram Charan following the underwhelming performance of Game Changer. Stakeholders in trade circles are keenly observing whether Peddi can transcend its main markets and establish itself as a broader pan-Indian success.

Regional Breakdown of Bookings

Sacnilk’s report highlights that the Telugu version of Peddi is significantly driving its pre-release business. The film is slated for 4,757 shows in Telugu, alongside 2,785 shows in Hindi. The Tamil version will feature 557 shows, while the Kannada version has 157 engagements. Additionally, 150 shows in Malayalam are arranged.

As of now, approximately four lakh tickets, specifically 3,90,036, have been sold for the Telugu version, with over 10,198 tickets sold for the Hindi version. Among various locations, the film has achieved its highest occupancy rate of 57 per cent in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, followed by Andhra Pradesh at 33 per cent and Telangana at 29 per cent.

Market Reactions and Expectations

The build-up to Peddi has been extensive, with months of anticipation surrounding this sports action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The film features an ensemble cast that includes Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, and Divyendu Sharma. Initial trade assessments indicate that the film could gross Rs 100 crore globally on its opening day, chiefly driven by robust numbers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, as well as overseas sales and paid premieres.

Trade analyst Ramesh Bala noted that the current buzz is particularly strong in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, with Karnataka also reflecting positive trends. However, responses from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and North India have been relatively muted. He further pointed out that late openings for advance bookings in several regions might have impacted initial sales figures.

The overseas market has provided additional momentum, with Peddi’s premiere sales in the United States nearing the $800,000 mark. Overall advance bookings across North America have surpassed $882,000. Bala expressed that while the Telugu market is likely to fuel the film’s initial success, the sustainability of its performance will hinge on audience reception and word-of-mouth recommendations in the days to come.
