On February 27, Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, alongside Union Minister of State Ajay Tamta, officially opened the Maa Purnagiri Fair at Thuligad. This annual event draws thousands of devotees and showcases the region’s religious significance. After arriving, Chief Minister Dhami participated in prayers at Maa Purnagiri Dham, expressing his wishes for peace and prosperity in the state.

During his address at the fair, Dhami described the event as a splendid display of faith, tradition, and culture. He underlined the government’s dedication to safeguarding Sanatan culture and preserving local traditions. The Chief Minister also highlighted ongoing efforts by the government to restore temples and enhance pilgrimage sites, particularly in the Kedarkhand and Manaskhand regions. Furthermore, he assured attendees that the safety and convenience of devotees visiting Purnagiri Dham continue to be a primary focus for the administration.

Participation in Holi Milan Ceremony

Earlier on the same day, Dhami engaged in the Holi Milan ceremony at Sanatan Dharamshala Ramlila Maidan, located in Khatima. He extended warm Holi wishes to those present and took part in various traditional Holi celebrations, including Kumaoni, classical, and Tharu Holi songs. This involvement aimed to strengthen community ties and celebrate cultural heritage during the festival.

In his remarks at the Holi celebration, the Chief Minister emphasized that Uttarakhand’s folk culture, traditions, and festivals are foundational to the state’s cultural identity. He articulated that Holi transcends mere color celebrations, serving as an emblem of social unity, harmony, and inclusiveness. With heartfelt emotion, he stated, “Khatima is my home and the people of Khatima are my family. It brings me immense happiness to be among my family members.”

Celebrating Unity in Diversity

Dhami further noted that Khatima exemplifies communal harmony and represents a “Mini India” due to its diverse population comprising various religious and community backgrounds. He highlighted the cooperative spirit observed among local residents, where individuals come together to celebrate festivals, fostering love and mutual respect.

In an atmosphere filled with festive cheer, the Chief Minister actively engaged with local residents, playing Holi and sharing joy with the community. He conveyed his heartfelt wishes for a Holi filled with happiness, peace, and prosperity to all citizens of Uttarakhand. Through these acts and messages, he sought to reinforce the significance of traditional culture, even in the contemporary world, as both commendable and vital to the community’s identity.
