The CSR Journal Magazine

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has confirmed that he is not part of Hera Pheri 3, following a statement by producer Firoz Nadiadwala. In an interview with Variety India, Nadiadwala clarified that any speculation regarding Priyadarshan’s involvement in the film was inaccurate, stating, “No, Priyadarshan is not part of it.” He was optimistic about the film’s progress, emphasising that the project is moving ahead in a favourable direction.

Concerns Raised About The Film’s Future

Despite the producer’s positive outlook, Priyadarshan expressed reservations about the film’s potential release. He stated in an interview with Hindustan Times that the production remains fraught with challenges, including legal complications and personal disputes. “To the best of my knowledge, Hera Pheri 3 will never hit the screen due to lots of legal issues and personal conflicts. Whether I am involved or not is unimportant,” he remarked, indicating a more cautious perspective on the project’s viability.

Hera Pheri 3 has experienced numerous delays and shifts in direction over the years, leading to ongoing speculation regarding its development status. Although Nadiadwala reported that things are on track, there has been no official announcement concerning the filming schedule or a release date, leaving fans uncertain about the franchise’s fate.

The original film, Hera Pheri, debuted in 2000 and was directed by Priyadarshan, quickly rising to prominence as one of Hindi cinema’s beloved comedies. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri, was released in 2006 and was helmed by the late Neeraj Vora, further solidifying the franchise’s popularity. This history adds to the significance of the current developments regarding Hera Pheri 3.

Previous Directorial Changes and Future Possibilities

The trajectory of Hera Pheri 3 has been marked by several changes in leadership. Initially, filmmaker Indra Kumar was set to direct the third instalment after being officially announced in 2018. However, he subsequently stepped away from the project, and reports surfaced suggesting that Priyadarshan might return as director. This speculation was met with enthusiasm from fans eager to see the continuation of the franchise.

Priyadarshan’s confirmation of his non-participation indicates a definitive shift in the project’s direction. The ongoing discussions around the film reflect the broad interest it garners among audiences, despite the uncertainties surrounding its production. As the situation unfolds, fans remain hopeful, yet apprehensive about the future of Hera Pheri 3.

In light of these developments, the film’s makers will need to navigate various hurdles to actualise this anticipated sequel. Firoz Nadiadwala continues to assert that progress is being made, but the eventual outcome remains to be seen, as the complexities surrounding the film emphasise the challenging nature of bringing a beloved franchise back to the screen.
