Prime Minister Modi to Launch Industrial Development Initiatives in Gujarat on March 31

The CSR Journal Magazine

On March 31, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to visit Gujarat with a focus on fostering industrial growth as part of the broader vision of “Viksit Bharat” through “Viksit Gujarat.” According to the Chief Minister’s Office in Gujarat, the Prime Minister will inaugurate several development projects valued at Rs 271.20 crore, which have been completed by the Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation (GIDC) in Sanand, located in Ahmedabad district.

Transformation of Sanand Industrial Estate

The Sanand industrial township, which spans approximately 2,056 hectares, has become a pivotal site for high-tech industries, including sectors like semiconductors, pharmaceuticals, and automobiles. More than 1,150 operational industrial units are based in the area, showcasing its significance in the state’s economic landscape. To tackle the challenges posed by waterlogging during monsoon seasons, GIDC has undertaken two critical drainage projects. The East and West Drain Projects feature an 18.71-kilometer reinforced cement concrete stormwater drain on either side of the estate, engineered to manage both internal and external water flow. Moreover, an additional 18.35-kilometer drainage system has been implemented along the main access roads on the Sanand-Viramgam Highway. By the anticipated completion date in March 2026, the industrial area aims to achieve the status of a ‘Zero Water Logging’ zone.

Upgrades to Naroda Industrial Estate

In tandem with developments in Sanand, the Naroda Industrial Estate, recognized as one of the state’s oldest industrial zones since its establishment in 1963, has also seen enhancements under the State Government’s ‘Assistance for Industrial Infrastructure’ initiative. The upgrades include investments totaling Rs 27.20 crore for the fortification and widening of internal roadways, the construction of stormwater drains, and the reinforcement of natural water channels. Additional enhancements cover the development of paver blocks, footpaths, and parking spaces encompassing more than 1.19 lakh square meters, as well as the installation of new street lights, high-mast lights, security cabins, and sanitary facilities.

Anticipated Benefits for Industries

The inauguration of these infrastructure projects is expected to bring direct advantages to thousands of small and large enterprises operating in both the Sanand and Naroda industrial estates. The new and improved drainage systems, complete with smart water meters, CCTV surveillance, and upgraded road networks, will facilitate the efficient movement of goods. These developments are poised to bolster Gujarat’s appeal as an investment destination on a global scale.

Presence of State Leaders and Industrialists

During the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, the Council of Ministers, as well as prominent industrial leaders, will be in attendance, underscoring the collaborative efforts between government and industry stakeholders aimed at promoting economic growth within the state.
