Bangladeshi Woman Detained in Gujarat for Allegedly Using Many Identities

A woman believed to be a Bangladeshi national has been detained by police in Junagadh, Gujarat, following an investigation that uncovered her use of multiple identities and addresses across various cities. The police action was initiated after receiving information regarding a suspected foreign national residing in the Madhuram area of Junagadh. Upon conducting a raid, officers began the process of verifying her identity and associated documents.

On October 12, the woman presented herself as Mithila Roy during initial questioning. However, subsequent verification revealed discrepancies in her identity, leading investigators to identify her as Khalida Begum, reportedly from Narayanganj, Bangladesh. This revelation has prompted a deeper inquiry into her background, including her movements within India and the circumstances surrounding her entry into the country.

Identity and Movements Under Scrutiny

Preliminary investigations suggest that the detained woman had resided in Nalasopara, Surat, and Junagadh, using various identities. It has been reported that she had visited Junagadh on three to four occasions, each time assuming a different name. The police have recovered several Aadhaar cards with different names and approximately four SIM cards from her possession, which are currently under examination as part of the ongoing investigation.

Additionally, purchase receipts from e-commerce platforms such as Flipkart and Amazon have been obtained, revealing various addresses linked to her. Investigators are meticulously analysing these documents to ascertain her places of residence and the frequency with which she changed her location.

According to initial findings, she is believed to have been residing in India for around three years, although the precise duration and the conditions of her entry remain unclear. The investigation continues to focus on establishing the full extent of her activities and identity. The authorities aim to determine the reasons behind her alleged use of multiple identities and whether there are any other aspects of her movements that warrant further investigation.

Joint Efforts by Multiple Agencies

The woman is currently being held at the Sakhi One Stop Centre, where she is undergoing questioning by various agencies involved in the investigation. These agencies are collaborating to gather comprehensive information regarding her entry into India, the reasons for her alleged identity changes, and any additional details that may emerge during the inquiry.

Authorities are continuing to scrutinise the documents, SIM cards, and purchase receipts collected during the operation to piece together a complete timeline of events. The findings related to her identity and the length of her stay in India are still being investigated, with officials committed to uncovering the truth behind her situation.

As the investigation progresses, the focus remains on clarifying the circumstances of her presence in India and ensuring that all relevant details are thoroughly examined. The outcome of this inquiry may have implications for broader discussions regarding immigration and national security.
