Pilibhit Court Sentences Five Individuals to Life Imprisonment for Murder of Nine-Year-Old Girl

The CSR Journal Magazine

A court in Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh, has convicted and sentenced five individuals to life imprisonment for their involvement in the murder of a nine-year-old girl in 2022, reportedly as part of a conspiracy to frame a local villager. The court’s decision, announced by Additional Sessions Judge Vijay Kumar Himanshu, described the crime as particularly heinous and unforgivable. Each of the accused received a fine of Rs 22,000 on August 25, 2026.

The girl’s father, Anees, received rigorous life imprisonment, while his accomplices, identified as Shadab, Naseem, Saleem, and Shahzade, were similarly sentenced. The prosecution emphasized the planning and execution of the crime, asserting that it was a deliberate act aimed at diverting attention from the initial allegations against Anees and his brother.

Background of the Case

According to prosecution officer Devendra Kumar, the motive for the murder stems from an earlier rape case that a villager named Sakil filed against Anees and Shadab. Following the filing of this case, the accused allegedly attempted to coerce Sakil into retracting his complaint. When Sakil refused, Anees and his accomplices devised a plan to frame him for murder, using Anees’s daughter, Anam, as part of their scheme.

The tragic incident occurred on December 2, 2022, when the accused took Anam to an Urs fair. The prosecution’s narrative asserts that upon their return, Anees administered sleeping pills to the girl in a field. After she lost consciousness, he struck her with a brick and subsequently stabbed her with a knife, leading to her death.

Following the murder, Anees concealed Anam’s body in straw and later approached authorities with a fabricated report claiming that his daughter was missing. During the investigation, it was revealed that Anam was still alive for some time after the assault, and instead of seeking immediate medical assistance, Anees allegedly recorded a video of her condition.

Investigation and Court Proceedings

The police investigation relied heavily on forensic evidence, witness statements, and other collected data to establish the timeline of events. As the facts emerged, it was determined that Sakil had been innocent, resulting in the dismissal of charges against him. This pivotal finding led to the formulation of a chargesheet against the accused individuals.

After thoroughly reviewing the evidence, the court found the five accused guilty of the crime and imposed life sentences on August 25, 2026. This ruling underscores the severity of the actions taken by Anees and his accomplices. The case has garnered significant attention due to its unsettling nature and the implications it has concerning the mechanisms of justice in such serious offences.

The proceedings highlight the critical requirements of legal procedures and the importance of thorough investigations to ensure that innocent individuals are not wrongfully prosecuted. The court’s sentencing aims to serve as a strong message regarding accountability in violent crimes, especially those involving vulnerable victims like children.
