In a smart move ahead of the Bihar Assembly Elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said the state government will provide jobs and employment opportunities to one crore youths over the next five years. The announcement comes ahead of the Bihar Assmebly Elections which is expected to take place in October-November this year.

To achieve this, new job and employment opportunities will also be created in the private sector, particularly in industrial areas. For this purpose, a high-level committee is being constituted,” Chief Nitish Kumar said in an X post.

Bihar to get new skill university named after Jananayak Karpuri Thakur

The CM informed in his X post that currently, under the Saat Nischay programme, the youth of the state are being provided with skill development training to connect them with self-employment opportunities. In the next five years, the ongoing programme under Saat Nischay for youth skill development will be expanded.

The Saat Nischay programme is a development initiative by the Bihar State Government, launched in 2016, focusing on various aspects of the state’s progress. It aims to empower the youth, provide basic amenities, and improve infrastructure. The program is structured around seven key areas, each representing a “resolve” towards a better Bihar.

The CM further announced that a skill university will be established for skill development, which will be named Jananayak Karpuri Thakur Skill University in honour of Bihar’s pride, Bharat Ratna Jananayak Karpuri Thakur ji, so that the youth of the state can find a new direction in skill development.

Over 10 lakh youth got government jobs in Bihar since 2005: CM Nitish

Highlighting how his government has focused on empowering the youth of Bihar, the CM wrote:

“It has been our vision from the beginning to ensure that more and more youth in the state receive government jobs and employment opportunities. Between 2005 and 2020, over 8 lakh youth in the state were provided with government jobs.

To further accelerate the pace of providing government jobs and employment to the youth of the state, in 2020, under the good governance program Saat Nischay-2, we resolved to provide government jobs to 10 lakh youth and employment to 10 lakh people. Later, this target was increased to provide government jobs to 12 lakh youth and employment to 38 lakh people by August 2025, setting a total target of 50 lakh jobs/employment opportunities.

I am delighted to share that, so far, 10 lakh youth in the state have been provided with government jobs, and approximately 39 lakh people have been given employment, and the target of providing government jobs/employment to over 50 lakh youth will certainly be achieved.”
