Nearly 9.5 Lakh Women Register for Delhi’s Lakshmi Yojana in August

The Delhi government has initiated the ‘Delhi Lakshmi Yojana’, aimed at providing eligible women in the national capital with monthly financial support of Rs 2,500. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced the scheme’s rollout on Wednesday, expressing her commitment to delivering this financial assistance to the women of Delhi.

The scheme was launched on August 1, and within the first month, nearly 9.5 lakh women have registered. During a press briefing, CM Gupta indicated that verification and approval letters had been distributed to the first set of 2,500 beneficiaries as part of the initiative. She stated that funds for August will be credited to the recipients’ accounts on September 1.

CM Gupta emphasized that there is no limit to the number of beneficiaries or a deadline for registration, noting that the initiative is ongoing. Women can register at their convenience, and those who register by August 24 will still receive the full Rs 2,500 for August.

The Delhi Lakshmi Yojana aims to empower women economically and promote their self-reliance and financial security. The scheme’s launch was marked by an event at Talkatora Stadium, attended by Union Minister of State Harsh Malhotra, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjit Singh Sandhu, CM Rekha Gupta, Delhi MPs, government ministers, public representatives, and other dignitaries.
