Veteran actor Nafisa Ali has announced a new health update revealing that her ovarian peritoneal cancer has advanced and her treatment plan has been modified. Previously, she disclosed that her cancer was in the fourth stage, yet she had experienced remission for the third time.

On a recent Sunday, Nafisa, aged 69, shared a photograph on social media from a hospital bed, where she appeared to be smiling while holding an intravenous drip bag. In her post, she detailed that she has commenced targeted therapy following the discovery of new lesions on her liver during her latest scans.

Nafisa expressed gratitude for the supportive messages she has received, stating, “My treatment protocol has changed and now I have been put on a Targeted Therapy fighting the good fight. Thank you for always keeping my support energy strong.” She elaborated that the PET-CT scan results indicated a progression of her cancer.

Public and Celebrity Support

Following her announcement, numerous users on Instagram responded with encouraging messages, wishing her a swift recovery. Notably, fashion designer Farah Khan Ali commented on Nafisa’s post, stating, “You fight girl. You are strong, you are fabulous, you are brave, and you will succeed. Sending you love and prayers too.” Nafisa was first diagnosed with stage 3 peritoneal and ovarian cancer in 2018. Since then, she has been undergoing treatment while residing in Goa.

In an interview with The Indian Express in July this year, she shared her thoughts on the impact of cancer, stating, “Cancer is something that tears families apart. It tears your financial balance apart. It is the scariest journey that I have ever been on because earlier, I could fight for the world. Now, I’m fighting for my life.” Her reflections highlight her desire to impart wisdom to her family, emphasizing the importance of creating a better world.

She continued, “So, it has taught me that I need to leave a message for my children, for my family, and for the young people: that the world definitely deserves to be a better place. And I will not step back and allow the powers that be to silence me. I want to tell the truth because, one, it is the future that belongs to everybody else. And we owe it to them to do right.” Through her words, Nafisa highlights her commitment to advocating for positive change.

Despite her health battles, Nafisa Ali has continued to engage in her acting career, although her projects have been limited. Four years post-diagnosis, she appeared in Sooraj Barjatya’s 2022 film ‘Uunchai’, playing the estranged wife of a character portrayed by Amitabh Bachchan. Most recently, she featured alongside actor Nasser in the film ‘Max, Min & Meowzaki’, directed by Padmakumar Narasimhamurthy, which was released in cinemas earlier this year.
